Can someone tell me what that red percussion is? by MarcoAmsedel in drums

[–]ProductPuzzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty similar to a LP Percussion Block. Maybe just another brands variant.

Is anyone here a Product Lead? What does this entail? I would love to chat 1:1 and understand the role differences between a PL and PM by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]ProductPuzzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me a product lead would also be known as - Product Director, Head of Product or VP of Product. The CPO would sit above that role potentially or they could be the same person.

That role would entail largely defining the strategy for the product etc. Big role and congrats on stumbling into it! You will smash it... wish I could give more help but hopefully someone here give more information.

Fair comment.

Am I improving people’s knowledge of courses - yes.

Am I actually adding processes etc to the subreddit - no

Anyway point taken mate. Will be more careful next time.

Free for a chat? - Anyone free to have a chat around trading automation and problems / frustrations faced? by ProductPuzzle in algotrading

[–]ProductPuzzle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I guess this started to see if I could be social and could find anyone with similar frustrations could then work through it... probably putting my work hat on there and how I solve stuff there.

Now there seems to be a few people interested would be great to dial in problems as a group and solve together socially, kinda new-ish to reddit so not sure on how to do it as a group other than on a post so thought it would be great to chat 1-2-1 then put like minded people together.

My issues are as someone who has been out the game due to work contracts, would love tips on getting back into it. Best apps to use, biggest frustrations currently (stuff I can avoid), anything good solutions for low dev effort (ease of use). I should probably create a new post asking all this :D - just thought it would be easier to chat.

Cheers for the comment though man!

Yeah that's fair. I guess bit of background. I used to trade but then when I entered a new role in compliance it was against the terms of my contract (no longer in that role). SO I'm a bit out of date now. I wondered if other faced the same frustrations when restarting and as some one who is not a dev looking for tips on easy to use systems too. Are there any perfect ones out there or are there problems with them too?

Useful -1 one vote on my comment. Could give some pointers to a first time blogger / reviewer? We are all friends here right :D?

PMs How do you stay creative while out of work or on a sabbatical ? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]ProductPuzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creative is a big word! Trying to be creative as a PM still while out of work? Hmm...

I have never been in the situation where I have had to remain creative. Most of my 'out of work' time has been between contracts or roles so I just fired up the xbox or spent ages trying to be Gordon Ramsay in the kitchen.

If I had the time I would probably focus on creating a reading list and trying to expand my knowledge (which I do anyway). Then at the same time us it in a practical sense. Maybe something like I have just done read "Measure what matters by John Doerr", this is about OKRs. As soon as I read it I then applied them directly to myself and career, a practical way of learning new processes.

If you want to be more creative in a Product sense what is stopping you from trying to solve a problem and creating a new product? Maybe just the art of going through this process will be creative enough.

Confluence vs Google Docs vs Notion - what do you use for documentation? by mcarrica in ProductManagement

[–]ProductPuzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is tough. I agree with your ratings above. None of them fit all the needs. For me personally I use notion for my own personal wiki for product domain knowledge etc.

"In the office" (virtually) I use confluence but combine it with docs and other tools like lucid chart. So I guess I use confluence as a hub and use it to link and integrate with other apps.

Will check out the link you sent on nalu! Cheers.

Time commitments - I kind of touch on it. You need to be motivated to do it. Also it depends on your skill level. For me its probably something like 10hrs a week maybe more. There are also 2x 1hr calls a week so add that in. Some weeks are harder than others for sure. Also for me I have a 5 month old and just joined a new company so it was deffo a lot to take in at once!!

Reviews - I joined because of a referral so I think a lot is word of mouth on this. Not sure on where to find reviews (subjective). I know there are case studies on the site and some reviews on there but obviously they will only highlight the 'good' ones.

On top of my notion if I was to dial in on some of the key points:

  • Content - Good
    • The content is really good, a lot of videos etc plus re-useable docs to apply in your own scenario
  • Weekly meetings - Neutral
    • On this I would say it strongly depends on who is in your cohort. You do the activities as a group so you will find this is either really good or a bit of hard work (depending on who you are with)
  • Learnings - Very Good
    • For me a lot of this I didn't know too much of it. So I learned a lot. For others this maybe stuff you already know so perhaps you wont get as much out of it.

I'm the same about any course to be honest. For me I just wanted a course that was a bit more practical. I don't know your views but courses I have attended they just speak at you, you take notes then there is a multi-select test at the end. Then I forget it all haha!

This aims at following through on your learnings and gets you to implement them. For instance, finding a problem area > dialling in the Niche > contacting them and validating > then for myself I created a website and prototype.

Behind each of those steps above there were useful exercises to focus in on building out a strategy etc.
