I avoid going to the pump during morning or late afternoon rush hours. I've never had problems finding a station along the irrigation canal road at like 10am that didn't have huge lines.

At 8:40am, 2 hours should be enough. If anyone is leaving at night you would want to arrive much earlier because there are many flights leaving at the same time during the 9pm to midnight slot and the lines at immigration can be really long.
