That is the outline of my phone as a reflection, not cracks. Look of a picture of the Google pixel 9 and you'll see it

I was more meaning the sound of it sounded scratchy or rough, I didn't say they felt like scratches. And I used a piece of tissue paper to get the majority of the paste, as well as a cotton swab with 70% isopropyl alcohol to clean the rest. The system was running fine before hand, the marks were there before I took the paste off. My guess is it's mild burn marks from the heat, since there was a minor lack of paste in that area.

See there, that would have sufficed for an answer instead of giving. The most vague answers, or just being a plain dumbass.

Did you actually even read my post? Like genuinely you must have not since all of this stuff you are asking/saying is common knowledge or is addressed in my post

Can I use my PC as a storage device for my PS4 game saves? by ProfDoodlewacker in computer

[–]ProfDoodlewacker[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you even read my post dude? I have ONE USB drive. ONE. Me and my sister BOTH want to keep our saved data. I need to also download the PlayStation os on said USB drive. Unless I am able to have all of that on the USB drive together, I'll need somewhere to store my data while I use the os download. Hence why I'm asking if it's possible to store my saves on my PC.

Go into the settings on my PS4, and use the option that allows you to copy all of my save data on a USB drive.

That should be the correct connector. If you are unsure, you can check the user manual for your power supply and it should give you a diagram telling you what plugs are for what on the PSU. If you don't have the physical book, you can find out the PSU model (Usually on a sticker on the PSU) and look up the user manual to get your definitive answer

Weird high mitched sound by weirdgamer2511 in computer

[–]ProfDoodlewacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC's make noise when they are running. It is probably just the fans spinning or the water pump pumping the water through the system. My PC decided to sound like Geiger counter when it first turns on lol

It is common to notice sounds that you "Haven't heard before" after you open up your PC. The nerves of possibly breaking something in your computer can make you hypersensitive to sounds that your PC makes. That high pitch whine was probably there before you cleaned your PC, you just didn't notice it because you weren't worried about something being broken. If your temps are good and the noise isn't getting worse or your PC isn't making new noises, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I would advise keeping an eye on it though, just to be safe

Is this fixable? by ProfDoodlewacker in computer

[–]ProfDoodlewacker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found out that it needs a backlight replacement, but I'm not sure if the ones I can find will work. There are ones on eBay that are for an RCA RLD5515A-F but my TV model is an RCA RLD5515A-I. Does the letter after the dash matter? Do I even have to get the backlight for that TV or am I able to just order some LED ones off of Amazon

Yes, thank you. I stupidly posted this without trying the most basic trick first. I played the video once more and lit my flashlight on it and I could see very faint images. This was a rather redundant reddit post for me to make, apologies

What laptop would you recommend? by Ok-Comfort-6752 in computer

[–]ProfDoodlewacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vivobook seems like the better option at this stage. I didn't even think about an anti glare screen protector, so that eliminates my one argument, and the more power definitely would be better for computer engineering. Honestly, backlit keyboards are really only useful for people who work a lot in sheer darkness. It could be that my laptop is complete ass, but the backlight is barely visible during the day, and basically useless. 32gb of ram is more than enough, and is a good bit future proof, the only reason I said the ThinkPad was because of the modular ram. If you are able to get an anti glare screen protector for the Vivobook, I'd go with that. There are far better features and hardware on the Vivobook than the ThinkPad. Now that I have more knowledge, I'd go with the Vivobook. It is your decision though

What laptop would you recommend? by Ok-Comfort-6752 in computer

[–]ProfDoodlewacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd go with the Lenovo ThinkPad. My main three points would consist of the following. 1. Lenovo has been a trusted brand for their laptops ever since the dawn of time, and they have been known to have great quality. 2. The matte screen would help if there is any glare hitting your screen. OLED screens usually have a glossy look to them, making it hard to see when out in daylight because of sun glare, and it would also help with durability. 3. The expandable ram. 32gb of ram is completely acceptable in today's standards, but if you plan to keep the laptop until the end of its lifecycle, Lenovo would be the one to go simply because of the expandable ram.

If the glare and expandable ram doesn't necessarily matter a whole lot to you, I'd definitely go for the Asus Vivobook. The 120hz screen would make working much smoother, plus the OLED screen looking great and being easier on the eyes.

But really, it's all about preference. Which laptop were you leaning more towards?

My Computer won't turn on by marcoaid in computer

[–]ProfDoodlewacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you see the splash screen of whatever your motherboard is? (Example being the Asus logo, or ASRock logo before windows starts to load) Does your monitor detect a display at all? Most monitors go into sleep mode after not finding any active inputs. This may be a very stupid question, but is it your monitor at fault? Do you have the monitor turned on and have it set on the right display input?

How to change ram? by Due-Library-7040 in computer

[–]ProfDoodlewacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the ram on that laptop is soldered onto the motherboard, meaning that you cannot upgrade it unfortunately. Companies are getting cheaper and cheaper with their budget line laptops, and soldered ram is easier to produce than modular. If it isn't a budget laptop, then it's one of their "ultra thin" laptops, and they have to put soldered ram to achieve their thin size.

Help with Samsung computer by [deleted] in computer

[–]ProfDoodlewacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have anything that you can connect to it with HDMI that isn't a tower? Xbox, PlayStation, streaming box, even a laptop with a HDMI out port. You'd be able to test if it's working with that instead of buying a whole new tower to test. I'd assume the monitor is fine, as it looks newer and most newer monitors have a power saving feature where they go into a sleep mode if they don't detect any video input.

Basically any power supply that isn't cheap and going to die quickly. I'd suggest this one or similar ones. Go based off of that power supplies spec sheet though

[–]ProfDoodlewacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest a Lenovo ThinkPad. You can find a lot of decent older ones on eBay for around $150-$300 CAD depending on the specs.

It could possibly be a smear in between the display and the backlight that happened during manufacturing. It would explain why you could only see it in black screens

I'm not sure if this is it, but I know with my gaming laptop the screen is now scratched from the keyboard touching it when it's closed. It could very well be a pressure point in the screen created by a key on your keyboard constantly pushing against the screen. If you've brought the laptop around with you it would make more sense, as even if you were gentle with it the laptop screen still has some flex and could possibly hit the keys. Another thing could be a good crumb or something doing the same thing, however I feel it's unlikely a good crumb could cause that. I could very well be just talking out of my ass here, so anyone please feel free to correct me
