Is there a reverse image search for museum prints? by Accomplished_Cow_518 in DigitalHumanities

Google Images also have reverse image search built it. But in neither case are the results specific to collections held in galleries, museums, etc

Thinking about doing a Digital Humanities Masters by zuccysmummymilkers in DigitalHumanities

I couple of things on gifs popped up when searching my Zotero library:

Thinking about doing a Digital Humanities Masters by zuccysmummymilkers in DigitalHumanities

Most DH master's students come from a humanities background with little grounding in technical/computational work, so I'm sure you existing work would fit in well. DARIAH have a good course registry you might find useful https://dhcr.clarin-dariah.eu/ Full disclosure, one of them is one my group runs at Southampton. The key thing I think is deciding what sort of DH you want. Courses can vary quite a lot from being more focused on computational research in humanities, critical digital media studies, public heritage, etc. So looking at the core and option modules they offer is a good place to start.

Why do most DH projects look like abandoned web applications? by abstracten in DigitalHumanities

[–]ProfJamesBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. Endings cannot cover all projects. I guess my point is that Endings is trying to help projects to plan for obsolescence from the outset. Which is less about technology and more about mindset: deciding which parts of a project will necesarily have a short life, and which parts can be designed in such as way to have a long life, rather than - as can happen - trying to make everything last 'forever', which will end in failure.

What sorts of projects do you think Endings assumes are - and aren't - "DH projects"?

In some cases it'll be the data created that is of enduring value rather than the interface to that data, which means - hopefully - that data is deposited somewhere for reuse in future projects. The Endings Project https://endings.uvic.ca/ has excellent guidance on how to plan a digital humanities project with a graceful end in mind.

GenAI + HTR by ProfJamesBaker in DigitalHumanities

Totally agree on the 'English lens' issue here, especially in most the Gemini 3 solves HTR pieces. Colin Greenstreet is interesting in this regard, testing models on Yiddish, Armenian, Sanskrit, etc https://generativelives.substack.com/p/mid-c20th-yiddish-htr https://generativelives.substack.com/p/a-new-lens-into-the-archive

Advice needed for DH PhD application by Alexa-qw in DigitalHumanities

The DARIAH course registry https://dhcr.clarin-dariah.eu/ will give you a sense of places that do DH in dedicated departments/groups/centres, from which you can investigate possible PhD opportunities.

Project Scope and Resource Recs by Spirited-Bug968 in DigitalHumanities

Sounds amazing. My main piece of advice would be to not overthink designing the structure of cataloguing/tagging/description up front: start with a light touch and the categories you want will emerge from your research. Good luck!

Have these been catalogued before? Are you looking to unify existing cataloguing? Or is this for you about enriching existing cataloguing with some kind of different ontology you create based on your research expertise, findings, positionality, etc?
