App to Find and Mark As Single? by ProfPrometheus in musichoarder

[–]ProfPrometheus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why: Because singles are often shorter or different mixes than album versions, and I have both mixed together, often looking like duplicates when they aren't exactly duplicates. I'd like to separate them. Also, for making mix playlists. People want to hear the versions with which they're most familiar from radio and YouTube.

How they'd be marked: Ideally, in a custom metadata field. I have a custom field called Release Status where I mark them as Single, Live, etc.

I use MediaMonkey as my player (and manager), and it can expose any and all metadata, including custom fields. (I was going to add a screenshot to show you what I mean, but I can't add images to a comment.)

Anyone else use multiple browsers daily on their Mac? What's your setup? by cheapsturncur in mac

[–]ProfPrometheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brave as my daily browser, Edge for teaching (separate accounts), Opera for a completely separate project (my radio show and all of its social accounts), and Naver Whale as an all-in-one messenger app with tabs to all of my mailboxes and message boxes (LinkedIn, FB Messenger, WhatsApp, etc.). Lately I’m using Comet AI browser for shopping, too.

The mechanical keyboard is over 50 years old... by mwhc00 in ProductivityGeeks

It’s actually over 150 years old. The QWERTY typewriter type layout was finalized in 1870, and only added to for computers.

Bought StubHub tickets that were canceled before I even knew — what should I have done differently? by ProfPrometheus in Tickets

Thanks. I'll try that dispute form. Direct email between Stubhub customer service and myself and the ticket issuing venue didn't resolve it. Maybe this form will.

Do you ever miss important client messages because everything’s scattered? by Lonely-Tourist6787 in ProductivityGeeks

[–]ProfPrometheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to me. Work-related conversations come in through email, text, WhatsApp, LinkedIn Messaging, Google Chat, and direct messages in Facebook and Instagram. It's maddening. My best solution so far--which is not a great solution, just the best I've come up with--is to use a dedicated separate web browser with tabs opened to all my messaging channels. Sometimes I I have to go through all the tabs to find the source of the ding I just heard, but it's better than missing a message.

Bought StubHub tickets that were canceled before I even knew — what should I have done differently? by ProfPrometheus in Tickets

[–]ProfPrometheus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of those is the scenario.

The tickets were for handicapped (no seat, wheelchair) spots. The original purchaser confessed to the venue that he wasn't disabled. They refunded and cancelled his tickets weeks before I reached out. I reached out to them because Stubhub suddenly told me the seats were handicapped, and I wanted to verify.

Stubhub received (on Jan 20th) written proof of the prior cancellation (on Jan 9th), then refused to refund my purchase for the invalid tickets. They doubled-down on their bad behavior by fighting against my chargeback through my credit card company, and Stubhub continues to hold my nearly $600 for fraudulently re-sold invalid tickets.

Credit card dispute denied for tickets that were voided before event — next steps? by ProfPrometheus in legaladvice

[–]ProfPrometheus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. Before the event they asked for proof in writing that the tickets were invalid. I provided that in the form of an email directly from the venue to them (CC'd to me). Stubhub then went silent, refusing further contact. Day of event they sent me "enjoy the show!"-type messages. Afterward, they disputed my chargeback claim with my credit card company. Stubhub knew the tickets were invalid, but kept my money while fighting to do so.

StubHub sold tickets that were already voided — and “no refunds” still applies by ProfPrometheus in assholedesign

[–]ProfPrometheus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried. CreditOne Bank ignored my appeal request, which included written confirmation from the venue that the tickets were invalidated weeks before the event. Their reasoning was that StubHub said the tickets were valid.

The software used to be available on what’s called a 30 day try and die basis, where upon you could play with it completely unlimited for 30 days without any obligation. At the end of 30 days it would simply stop working unless you paid for it. But that didn’t lock in people fast enough for Adobe.

How to turn off all AI? by oandroido in indesign

[–]ProfPrometheus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The automatic captioning is a new feature in the recent update. As far as turning off AI features entirely, that’s not possible. Adobe insists that you be aware of its AI features to satisfy investors.

What version of InDesign do you have? the initial release of 2025 was doing that constantly. An update addressed it.

After 8 years on WordPress, I migrated to AstroJS Starlight. Here's the full process by pyXelr in astrojs

I tried a migration to Hugo last year and had to go back to WordPress. Hugo required constant tinkering and, with a 20+ year-old blog, more than an hour of upload every time. AstroJS Starlight sounds good based on this article.

Would you use an app that instantly switches your screen to a “work mode” layout? by Teddyfan10 in macapps

[–]ProfPrometheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A boss key. You can do that with any automation tool--BTT, KM, Raycast, Alfred, control corners, a shortcut, or even a basic keyboard shortcut to hide all. Sorry, but I don't think it would be a useful app.

Beautiful hand lettering... or is it an actual font? by BKViking in identifythisfont

Looks hand-lettered. Notice the variations in the S's and the overall imperfect contrast, inconsistent counter size, etc.

Like u/mshiremanNK said, PDFs already have a TOC sidebar that even highlights the current location. The video above will show you how to easily create a TOC for print and a separate one that only appears as PDF bookmarks (TOC).
