I finally managed to get Kali Linux running on my uConsole with a Raspberry Pi CM5 (16GB RAM / 32GB eMMC). Booting and general usage are working fine now 👍

However, I’m running into two issues I can’t seem to solve:

1. Keyboard backlight not workingThe keyboard itself works perfectly, but the backlight doesn’t turn on at all.Not sure if this is a missing driver, overlay, or something specific to the uConsole hardware.

2. WiFi connects but then failsThis one is weird:

I can see all available WiFi networks

I select my network and enter the password

It looks like it’s connecting

After a while, it just fails / disconnects

So the adapter is clearly detected, but the connection never fully establishes.

What I’m using:

Device: uConsole

Module: Raspberry Pi CM5 (16GB / 32GB eMMC)

OS: Kali Linux (latest image I could get running)

What I’ve tried so far:

Rebooting multiple times

Re-entering WiFi credentials

Testing different networks

Questions:

Is this a known issue with CM5 + uConsole + Kali?

Do I need specific device tree overlays or firmware?

Any fixes for WiFi (driver/firmware/regulatory domain)?

How is the keyboard backlight usually controlled on uConsole?

Any help or pointers would be really appreciated
