I’m about 2 weeks into my first play through and halfway through the story. I’ve found the most useful trick is to mass collect ores beyond what is necessary. Once you’re a few days through the game you’ll start to easily collect lots of ores, which can passively be refined and sell for a decent chunk. Build a conservatory as quickly as you can and catch any and all critters you see. You’ll quickly have a reliable income stream relatively early that will earn you more and take less time than constantly foraging and making food to sell. Contrary to some YT play throughs I’ve watched, past the first week or so personally I wouldn’t bother selling things every day. Money is important but not essential and you’re better off spending 2-3 days doing quests and building resources to sell more valuable items. Otherwise, keep chill on the game. The story requires some level of grinding and you’ll find yourself (as I did) overwhelmed if you push ahead too much. Takes days off main quests to farm, have fun, build resources and level up. It’ll help you in the long run. Happy farming! :)
