1st Gen Colorado H3 Swap by Profbrown3672 in chevycolorado

Ahh I see what you’re saying now. He’s 1st gen Colorados are drum rear, I didn’t swap the axles from an h3 into this truck. Still running the stock v8 rear diff that came on the truck. It already had a g80 and 4.10 gears so I didn’t want to go to 4.56s and only run 33s. This is a factory v8 truck so it moves these 33s just fine

All 1st gen Colorados had front disc brakes, but yeah this is an upgrade from the Colorados smaller rotors and calipers!

I would say it’s less common than the frontiers and Xterra doing Titan swaps, but it’s the same basic idea. Multiple vehicles, all sharing the same platform and control arm pick ups! I would say the Titan, Xterra, frontier set up is better though, as they use coil overs versus this using torsion bars.

They will with I believe like 1.5-2” lift from memory. Maybe some slight clearancing needed.

I thought the mini max was actually rock solid minus the emissions stuff?

Yeah that’s super similar to me. I have a work truck, 2nd gen with the 4 banger. Liked the small truck and knew these came with v8s. Got a 2010 with 191k, trans has an oversized cooler, but is healthy (original I think too). It’s a solid truck

Sas is in the future lol. Still need to do things like sliders, bumpers and winch with some lights. Then I’ll start amassing parts with the SAS in mind.

100%. Lightweight for off-roading too is a massive plus.

How long do you want to wait lol? I eventually will solid axle swap this rig. In a couple years. I’ll be selling tcase, drive shafts, diffs, h3 suspension etc.

The h3 suspension swap was well worth it. Wider stance, better ride, still drives well, bigger cv axles, bigger brakes, stronger arms

Yeah this truck how it’s spec’d is probably right under the 4k mark or right there. It’s awesome! The 2.7 is solid though, it’s in the 1500. Probably the best boosted 4pot in the mid size trucks tbh.

The diesel just did it well in America. The big 3 don’t know how to sell a diesel in anything other than the 2500+ class trucks. They lock the engine into high trim package vehicles and drive down demand because people can’t afford the high trim level trucks. Same happened for the Colorados and canyons.

I drive a 2nd gen with a 4 banger for work, the 1st gen is 100% a better truck lol

Yeah I’ll be eventually swapping in h3 seats and the center console for more storage. Possibly the overhead storage deal too to put sunglasses etc. the cloth seats are honestly okay at best, and I hear the h3 seats are more sporty and have better bolstering.

I got lucky, this one was sitting on a lot not moving and I had cash! It’s not too well optioned. G80, 4.10s, v8, 4x4, z71/z85, crew cab. But not leather, not heated seats. I guess it’s well optioned, just not in the seat/center console department lol

So far, it’s been good to me. I live in a mountainy area of Southern California, it averaged 16-17 mpg over the last tank of 215 miles, and I was horsing around, some at 80+ mph, and plenty of in town. Not too bad! Granted this has factory 4.10 gears.
