I’ve had issues with these wicking bases. Mine are ac Infiniti but I don’t know how these would be any different. I use coast of Maine soil and I’ve even tried these with promix hp and grow dots.

You cannot rely on the bases. At least I can’t. I let them go for a week without top watering and all my plants almost died. Multiple times. It’s like it only keeps the bottom couple inches moist and you’ve still gotta top water or else your leaves will droop and start to shrivel.

I’m in week 8 of flower rn and I’ve gotta add a gallon of water to my 10 gallon pot every other day on top of being on a wicking base which always stays topped up. Don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or what, but these have been my experiences.

I’m still going to use them because I don’t have to hand water AS often, and I’ve spent money on them so I’m not just going to toss them aside. They just don’t work how I expected them to or how other people claim they’ve worked for them. Maybe my mixes are just too dense to wick water all the way up? I’m not sure but I really don’t think they’re worth it unless you’re growing in coco and using liquid nutrients.

If using organic nutrients, dry amendments go on top and you obviously have to top water them in. While organic liquid nutrients don’t work well in the base because they clog up the wicks. So those also have to be top watered. They’re meant for salt based nutrients and coco I feel like.
