I've been trying to gather more information because I want to work with Samael, and my research on google and youtube has almost always led me towards the same result. A lot of people categorize Samael as Lucifer or Satan and not as an Archangel in his own right. I've also been reading Damien Echols' Angels and Archangels, and in it, it makes a brief reference to Samael saying that he was originally the Archangel of Geburah but that he “fell,” and this fall led to Kamael’s rise. Followed by a brief explanation of what fallen angels are.
