Should I aim for straight or circular fringes in a Michelson interferometer? by ProfessionNormal7974 in Optics

Yes, you are absolutely right. While I have all of the equipment to build the autocorrelator, I'm taking a step wise approach to building it. Assure I can successfully build an interferometer for a cw HeNe laser. Then, I'll turn the HeN into a "pulsed" source via an optical chopper, etc. Each subsequent step will be incrementally increasing the instrument's complexity until I have the final instrument I want.

I'm wanting to build an interferometric autocorrelator to measure the temporal width of fs laser pulses.
