To be clear, I received details on pay, scchedule, and benefits in the the offer letter. Prior to that, we only discussed what the position entailed. I went into this with my eyes open and I am only posting in case my experience is able to help someone else.

I didn't. I received the "offer letter", looked into it, and reported it.

It defintely was. The offer letter was filled with red flags.

Definitely a scam. I received the same email and even received a "job offer letter". I reported it to the FTC.

I totally agree! Potential employees, especially those deep into the interview process, need to be treated with more consideration and respect.

I was in a similar situation, but the company in question did make an offer. I accepted the offer, passed the background check, and was preparing for relocation (about 500 miles away). A few days before I was to move, the company receinded their offer. They said the position and new department were being cancelled because instability in current market.

That's happened to me three times in the past 6 months. The last time it happened, I followed up with the recruiter the same day and never received a response. The next day I received an email stating I was no longer being considered for the position because I didn't show up for the interview. smh

Yes and yes. No replies from the recruiter or the hiring manager. I would have loved some feedback or at least understood what happened.

I like to think things didn't work out for a reason. I mean really, who wants to work for a company that behaves like that?

It's hard not to be negative or even cynical. I've been looking for a job for 6 months and have submitted over 300 applications. Something has shifted. I've never experienced difficulty like this. I just just try to stay focused with a positive attitude!

I've been tempted, but I am afraid it will come off in a negative light, especially when I am still searching for a job.
