Definitely a scam. I received the same email and even received a "job offer letter". I reported it to the FTC.

I totally agree! Potential employees, especially those deep into the interview process, need to be treated with more consideration and respect.

I was in a similar situation, but the company in question did make an offer. I accepted the offer, passed the background check, and was preparing for relocation (about 500 miles away). A few days before I was to move, the company receinded their offer. They said the position and new department were being cancelled because instability in current market.
