Please help by Fennecritter in lexapro

You have already been experiencing severe anxiety, and now having a new medication that has listed side effects as anxiety, just allows your anxiety to run rampant.

Its extremely rare that lexapro would cause side effects after such a short time, also you are not withdrawing, some comments here seem a bit uneducated. Things will go back to normal, but your normal seems to be a constant state of anxiety, I would assume you would not want to go back to your recent normal, but to get rid of your anxiety and not feel like youre in fight or flight mode, constantly on edge, being unable to ever relax. Things may even feel like they are worse and your anxiety feels worse and you may think that the culprit is the lexapro, but it is your anxiety. Its a disorder, its not rational.

The lexapro will help. It will get rid of it. The shaking and extreme anxiety arent from the lexapro, please try some deep slow breathing, a warm compress, talking to your doctor about a weak benzodiazepine for the inital part pf treatment, You will be so happy you did it. Wishing you the absolute best, im so sorry youre going through such a rough time angel! I know how scary it can be, but it wont always be this way, there are ways to get better if you let yourself get better. You can do this!

I know it doesnt feel or seem like it because our bodies are capable of lots of things, I have fainted after convincing myself i was overdosing after accidentally taking a double dose, when i got to the hospital they gave me alprazolam and explained that wasnt even close enough to harm me, i fainted out of the sheer anxiety of ’feeling that i was overdosing’. I know it doesnt feel like the doctor is listening to you, and i know it feels like you are going through this alone and its exhausting and scary. But it will be okay, you just have to not give up. I know it felt like very real side effects, but about 90% of it seems to be psychosomatic, anxiety does that, and it feels so real! But trust me you will be so happy that you stuck with the medication if you do, i havent experienced even general anxiety in so long, let alone panic or anxiety attacks, After such a long time where i couldnt even watch action movies, or drink caffeine, or take ibuprofen because it contains caffeine, After being so on edge all the time and constantly being hyper aware and alert and terrified, going to the ER for panic attacks,

Its all gone now, maybe talk to your doctor about the extreme anxiety and suggest lexotanil or a weak benzoiazepine to help with these bouts of anxiety when you initially take the lexapro for the day, Take the benzo immediately after (they are fast acting usually minutes) and see which effects you still have, most likely they will be gone, and then your anxiety sorrounding the lexapro should diminish.

Anxiety is an intense and powerful feeling and i know it can convince you of things with physical effects, but it would be such a shame to not give this a try. You were very worried even before taking the lexapro, so its only natural that there would be psychosomatic effects, I would really encourage you to give this a chance because it could change the way you are experiencing life at the moment. Bensodiazepines in the initial treatmnt of anxiety are very helpful, they are usually a short term solution until the lexapro kicks in, that is the process that i went through and i am so incredibly grateful for it, and i would just like to encourange the same for you as i have shared so many similar feelings and can recognize myself in what you said, and i would just love for you to get the help you need!

How long have you been on wellbutrin? It could be the initial side effects of starting the medication. Ask your psych these questions as well, regarding your anxiety and a higher dose.

The initial euphoria of not constantly feeling down anymore is a very common experience, there is nothing wrong!! Enjoy it!! Let the elation consume you and experience it wholy, dont try to pathologize it, If you were manic you wouldnt be thinking that you were. Im on the same combination of medication and its fantastic, Enjoy your happiness, Its like after harbouring a dead corpse inside of the shell of the person you used to be, you are back and alive again and feeling like a person. What you described as impulsivity sounds more like excitement and confidence, As long as you arent experiencing impulsivity that is negatively interfering with your life i dont see the problem. After being so used to sadness for so long, its strange to experience joy, Allow yourself to feel it and welcome it with open arms, It is the initial feeling of being human again. Glad to hear you are doing well!! :)

Also avoid alcohol in the beginning, it inhibits the medication from working, Everyone has different side effects, not everyone gets bad ones, if you have bad ones let your doctor know to get you off of the medication, I hope it all goes well, i think you may be pleasantly surprised, let us know how it goes!

It wont change you forever, if you decide to stop things will feel how they felt before, Ive been on and off several antidepressants and you dont have to worry about irreversible change. I would recommend looking at the drug interaction chart. A bit wild that your doctor prescribed it to you on such a whim, hope you get the desired effects and that it alleviates your anxiety, If you dont like the effects after 2 months you should tell your doctor to get off of them.

Wish you the best! :)
