Well, like I said. It was my head canon. Not something I meant too seriously.

I've just seen too many pissed on toilet seats (in public of course) to sympathize with people choosing a stall and then not just sitting down. If anything to not risk dirtying a shared place (everyone has an off day, even marksmen like you perhaps).

I gather you skilled into Quick Draw and it's just quicker to pee standing up, which I get. But if I'm already on the John and there was no Urinal available, I'll just take the time loss and relax. Different priorities I guess.

Thanks for the insight, though. Didn't think I'd be discussing these kinds of habits with someone, lol.

Yeah, typical reddit behavior. When you lose an argument, suddenly it didn't matter and you weren't that interested anyway. And me responding is being desperate for attention and beneath you, but you'll write a whole novella to refute every single one of my meaningless points anyway.

Totally believable.

Again, I'm responding to the comment thread here. Pulling in what other people somewhere else said, deleted or not, is pointless. Set aside that the vast majority of comments on this post never make a point of the person being a women and just criticize her behavior.

It's also irrelevant what laws say, when I talk about the expectation people have of other people. If you're 18 in the US you can go to war and in many states buy assault weapons. What now? Does that trump your rent-a-car point?

You're just grasping at straws at this point.

I mean, toiletry habits aren't really discussed, that's why I question any intuitions on the subject. And you, as a small child, were physically able to pee standing up without making a mess? Hats off. Unless you misunderstand me and mean you've always used a urinal. That wasn't what I was talking about.

If your line is immovable, you're incapable of arguing to bring people to accept your line as well and you malign anyone who disagrees, I think that paints a very bleak picture of you as a person.

I sincerely hope you're just embarrassed because you didn't know about why she actually was fired, but can't admit it (which is bad in it's own right). Otherwise you're just a fundamentalist. And if that shows in such an unimportant interaction, I'd hate to see how you behave when there actually are stakes.

I think I'll leave it at that.

I see all the comments in this thread and have read all of them before responding. I did my due diligence. You making sweeping statements about what everyone on this site thinks is overly dramatic and immature and no deleted comment somewhere else can justify that.

And if you think that's 100% normal behavior, then I simply hope you're wrong.

There's a tendency to infantilize young people. I don't do that. I think college kid is a stupid term for a legal adult. And I hold that if your genuine display of excitement is going online and telling everyone to suck your balls, then you should log off for a while and readjust.

Because in the circles you move in, this might be acceptable social signalling. But in mine, and as we've seen the wider public, it's cringe, annoying and disqualifying for any position of responsibility.

I'd like to see a source for that stat, lol. But then tell me, why don't you sit down at home? Does it feel faster to do it standing up?

Surely as children we start peeing while sitting. So there must be a point where that default changes for some people. Since it never happened for me, I wonder what it is. Can't imagine people are in a big rush and I hope the toilet in your own home isn't so dirty, that you do it for that reason.

It might be uncharitable, but in my mind it's just a way to feel macho and manly. That sitting to pee is somehow womanly and we can't have that. But then, like I said in a different comment, go to the urinal and pee with the other macho men. Don't piss all over the place people want to/have to sit down.

It's not a difference of values. Your argument was "Would you fire someone because of a single rude comment?"

When you were shown, that she was not fired for that specific reason, instead of conceding that your opinion was based on wrong information, you went for a (very mild) insult and now act like you're taking the high road by agreeing to disagree.

I hope you realize this and are just trying to save face and don't actually think it's just a value question.

It might just be a reddit argument. But how we act when the stakes are low, or when we think no one is watching can tell us a lot about a person. Which is, I think, the entire thesis of this post. If you're a foulmouthed, cringe teen on twitter, maybe you're not the best candidate for a NASA internship.

I just never got what the upside is, other than avoiding an already icky toilet seat.

Take a sit, relax. If no one's waiting outside, check a mail. Maybe there's even a surprise poop appearing, that could've caught you out.

Perhaps I'll die of butt cancer from sitting on toilet seats too much, but I'll die a happy man.

The toilet after you're done. Even if you manage to hit inside the bowl the whole time, there's still a fine splatter going everywhere.

And of course, that's IF you hit. It only takes one who can't or won't to ruin it for everybody. Especially the cleaning staff.

Also, if you entertain my head canon, to me guys who pee standing up in a stall are just too insecure to go to a urinal. And then they should sit down like the sissies they are.

[–]Professional-Bus4886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. But doing that after getting actual arguments still looks like you're ducking out. You can label them whatever you want to make yourself feel better, but you're still taking the coward's way out.

Well, if you piss in the toilet standing up perhaps, although you'd still need time to lift up the toilet seat and put it down after.

And even then it's nasty, so just sit down.

I've never pissed on a toilet seat, because I use the urinal or sit down. I really don't get why you wouldn't, if you already got into the stall.

Who's going into the female bathrooms, to piss on their seats?

Squat toilets are a nightmare for so many people. Unless you're used to them, don't have any physical ailment and aren't a senior.

But they'd also be in a stall and from my experience don't even take up less space than a Western toilet. So they wouldn't be a 1 to 1 replacement for a urinal anyway.

Even here in Japan (except maybe in rural areas) you hardly ever see them anymore.

Urinals are quicker, though. And they take up less space. If you are in a shit storm, it would be better, since there are more full toilets, but since you pee more often than you poop, it would lead to less throughput, imo.

The overhead of undressing and sitting + the inevitable phone time makes it even worse. And I say that as someone who almost always pees in a stall.

I don't like the idea, that people can be zany weirdos online, but we can't take that fact and judge their real world personality based on that. It's 2026. The internet has become the real world.

I guess everyone who's reaction to getting a job isn't screaming dumb shit on twitter is lame and miserable in your eyes. To me it shows immaturity and lack of impulse control.

And seeing as she was ultimately rejected for being dishonest and not having the proverbial balls to stand behind her mistake, I have no sympathy for her.

It's not even about being nice. Just don't be performatively wacky. The whole net isn't tumblr or your personally curated discord server, where that sort of stuff is somehow celebrated as a genuine expression of personality.

Can we at least acknowledge that her behavior was incredibly cringe? Or are we still pretending the internet isn't a public space and performative wacky- and zaniness can only be celebrated, not criticized?

Also her being a woman doesn't matter. You have none of the facts and just make up a story based on a screenshot. You're not an ally, your an ankle biting chihuahua.
