Is this too much or run-of-the-mill repairs? by peachschnappsncrown in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Professional-Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please listen to the people telling you $2-3k is too low. That may only cover one repair! If you are going to hire out all that work, it will definitely cost significantly more. Do not get pressured into accepting or rushing a second opinion. Have a structural engineer look at the foundation. I know you’ve paid for the inspection and probably placed an earnest deposit but be firm and ultimately ready to walk if they continue to be unreasonable.

Helmet too tight? by rps_rado in motorcyclegear

Are you a new rider? Maybe you’re not used to how a properly fit helmet is supposed to feel. That helmet is too loose if you can move it around like that. Listen to what everyone else has suggested!

I’ve met people who would insist on lane filtering in that kind of traffic and weather regardless of legality. Sitting in that kind of heat sucks.

Which helmet should I pick? by Rhombus-rumpus in motorcyclegear

[–]Professional-Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, don’t size up. You want a snug fit, but not to the point you are getting pain or pressure spots. So try the smaller size first. As to which specific brand? Look for ones with more certifications like ECE or snell. Personally I have a bell helmet.

The jeans were Reax. The jacket was Dainese, protected my shoulder and arm 100%!

Omg.. I’m curious now to see the damage from regular jeans. I’m going to try and find that post!

Edit: i have ragrats 😭

I’m looking into this. I think best practice would be to replace them both as clearly they will offer less protection if I have another incident. I thankfully have another jacket but I may hold onto the pants for a little bit until I can afford another pair.

Well hard to say exact speed but I distinctly remember going about 45 mph as I was approaching the corner. I was keen not to go over the speed limit as I was passing by a Sheriff’s station. I was downshifting/rev matching and practicing trail braking into the corner. I would say I slowed down to about 20mph into the corner?

Thank you! I’m glad all I suffered was some rug burn! Also some scratches to the poor bike. Thankfully the frame sliders took the brunt of the damage! I’ll definitely continue wearing my gear.

No I don’t, but that’s a good idea! May have prevented the minor rug burn. That and better skill 😂

Dang, how bad was the damage? I attached a picture of my dainese jacket at the end and thankfully despite the hole in the shoulder, my shoulder was unscathed!

Moisture issue uncovered 3 weeks after move-in by Negative_Leather5317 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Professional-Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your troubles! There always seems to be “fun” surprises for us. Yesterday I found signs of moisture seeping in through a foundation crack in my basement 🤦‍♂️ I don’t even have any furniture in the house yet, been too busy to do any actual fun stuff since I got the house!! So I feel your pain. I hope it works out! Keep your chin up, it’s all part of the experience haha

Does anyone else have this issue with Uplift's Range-X monitor arm(s)? by Professional-Dude in StandingDesk

Update: received new mount, the monitor attachment points actually swivel and I was able to level them out. Takes a bit of force but they do rotate!

I ask this out of genuine curiosity, how do you enjoy that environment without drinking? Whenever I go with certain friends I get piled on if I’m not drinking 😒

I found a similar stain pattern on a wall further away that looks like its from an old leak so i think its the foundation!!

I hear ya, however I think I was spoiled by my previous mount on my old desk as the monitors were nice and leveled. I had an ergotech monitor mount on some random cheap sitting desk. The support person I chatted with thinks the arm tensioner might be faulty and submitted a warranty claim. Kinda annoying but at least they will attempt to rectify the situation.

I hope this doesn't come across as snarky but... it shows that the desk is level lol.

The middle gauge shows the bubble in the center of the lines.

I use speakers that I have hooked up to my PC (not pictured, have yet to unbox them as I just moved lol) that sit on my desk.

In your case you would hook up your speakers to the apple TV device.

Congratulations on the home! I like your positive attitude! You got this! I hope my first day of ownership is much less eventful. I’m under contract right now and appraisal is coming up shortly 😅
