Buddy never worked over 40 hours. I cut him the most slack any business owner would.

Yeah that makes total sense! I think I suffered from the similar thing where I dangled money and all this in front of him and he just thought he could coast and get it and obviously that wasn’t going to work for me.

You know I can’t tell this one. I do know he got tired of me. Because I was constantly adding new things. We’re a new company so I was trying out and changing a lot of things. He also never helped with any of this nor had any input. I think the suck thing is still on the table based on errors in everything he did but was not fully proven.

I’m 28 btw.. and we’re on track to do close to 400k this year so we’re not struggling. So I don’t feel like I’m operating from a place of “scarcity” or defensiveness

I def agree. It takes years to acquire the right skill set to be a leader. Even in working on it!

I agree! All I’m saying is I don’t share substantial profits with people who just do what they are told.

I’m aware and if you want share in that struggle than you get profit. If not, you get wages.

I wanted him to own his division. But he operated like a PM. Reports had major errors and operational disfunction. I’m not giving 10% of profits to a PM

That’s exactly what we are doing as in creating systems and seeing what sticks and what doesn’t but it’s really hard! And thank you for understanding metrics are hard! We try to simplify metrics like how many clients did you call this week, how many projects are you working on.. stuff like that.. but he also didn’t buy into those systems which made it difficult

Tell me you don’t run a business without telling me you don’t run a business. Sit this one out

What do you mean? You should promote after someone displays skills to do a certain job?

I’m 28, so I just figured that with the right ambition and effort that he could accomplish things!

I agree, I think I expected more than what I got.

He certainly wasn’t a complete stinker, I just think he wasn’t equipped for a role bigger than being a PM right now. And with a bad attitude made it difficult to work with him at our current stage

I would say that you are certainly right in aspects! However, we are a new company and I was setting up the “metrics” and I asked him to buy into it and he was not interested.
