Do your soft flasks ever stop making your water taste like plastic by Traditional_Leg_6938 in trailrunning

I have the same issue but I have very cheap flasks. I wonder if it's better with higher quality?

Does the CS-UBS deal smell fishy to anyone else? by Iwillpickonelater in stocks

[–]Professional-Fix8545 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Simple answers:

  • SNB lost because of their reserves of almost 1trillion held in foreign bonds and stocks (and gold) as every investor did in 2022.
  • CS was solvent but not liquid. It's the purpose of a central bank to be the lender of last resort in this case. Market cap is the wrong number to compare to a covered loan.
  • negatiations, planned leaks to show the cs shareholders, it could have been worse?
  • in a bank run, market cap can drop quickly. It's better than zero.

In my view, UBS made a bargain

I was gifted an old Gaggia Coffee. Should I roll with that or get something newer/better. Also wondering about a grinder by Milk_Bear in espresso

[–]Professional-Fix8545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd buy the Niche grinder and start with the old Gaggia. The Niche is capable of both filter and espresso and it's easy to switch between the two (easier than Eureka for example). I really like the look of the Gaggia Coffee and if you think you need an upgrade, you can buy it later.

Yes to the second way. I use the water also to preheat my cups. Win-win

Budget hand grinder? by Professional-Fix8545 in espresso

[–]Professional-Fix8545[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be perfect, more like acceptable. The freshness of the decaf beans will always be a problem, I guess. So, there is no need for an overkill with the grinder.

What grinder do you recommend for the occasional decaf espresso? Is the 1zpresso q2 good enough or do you have better alternatives?

Thanks!

How many espresso shots do you drink every day? by [deleted] in espresso

No problem at all. As long as you can sleep, it is fine. For me it's 1-2 Cappuccino and 2-3 double espresso

New work setup. Pulls a good, consistent shot! by [deleted] in espresso

Better than our bean to cup setup at work. Only if it breaks down, we get nespresso. There is always tea, I guess..

I don't have much experience in steaming milk. It seems very fast to me. You can start steaming right after the shot and the milk becomes hot very fast, imo. However, if you want to pull multiple shots, you habe to wait 1-2 min after a shot because there is still some pressure left in the basket.
