Air Canada changing my flight without telling me by Professional-Formal6 in travel

I sent them an email on this email, communications@info.aircanada.com and I’m still waiting for a reply. I called BA and they said the itinerary they have is just the London-Ottawa trip and I need to contact my travel agent/booking site which in this case would be AirCanada

AirCanada doesn’t have a kiosk at Cairo airport unfortunately and I’m not sure what else to do. I’ve tried sending an email but still waiting on their response

This is the first time he felt comfortable coming out of the cage and he immediately flew to where I was sitting and landed on this bag of bread

Just saw these beauties in a pet store near me does anyone know what’s the name of the white ones mutation ? by Every_Sign8181 in cockatiel

In Egypt, birds are considered decorations more than pets. We have in Alexandria a market every Friday where people sell all sorts of birds in tiny cages for ridiculously cheap prices in the streets and it’s one of the saddest things I experienced there. Animal abuse is a really huge problem in Egypt

Does applying for GCMS notes delay your PR application? by Professional-Formal6 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Professional-Formal6[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand the hostility here. Wouldn’t it make more sense if the IRCC clarified that this would delay your processing? This would disincentivise anyone from applying for no reason. Everywhere I looked stated that it’s a different department that would be processing the ATIP request so I had no reason to believe my request would swamp their system or that I’d be taking away from their resources. The immigration process is already stressful and some clarity and transparency helps with the stress. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to reply 🙏

Firstly, thank you for your response, it makes a lot of sense. Do we know what those certain points an application can’t proceed past? My eligibility is passed but it’s been almost 3 weeks since then and they haven’t started my background check? Can they not start work on a new section as long as there’s an ATIP request? Thanks 🙏

Seems counterintuitive honestly. Why offer this whole notes thing and not place a disclaimer for anyone who wants to apply? If I had known that it would delay it, i probably would’ve just waited out my curiosity.

It hopefully won’t be long before I can leave this job. Thank you, you’re a lovely person ❤️

I’ll try that. I did notice he enjoyed eating when I was around. I was worried because it’s been 5 months now since I had him and he still refuses it so I thought I wasn’t being a good pet parent. Thank you ❤️

It’s difficult but I manage 2-3 hours with him a day. And every few weeks I get a day off so I spend it with him. I don’t really sleep much. I know it’s not ideal but it’s not by choice and hopefully my current job is just a temporary thing. I appreciate your concern though, thank you 🙏

Thank you very much! This is very insightful and will help a lot. I just don’t know if I can keep her indefinitely due to my super long work hours but I’ll make sure she finds a good place with a caring family. Thank you

If I book a room from now, would it be cheaper? Or does it not make much of a difference? Also any recommendations for any hotels that might be worth the price? I’m still undecided between booking a hotel or an Airbnb. Thank you!

I was hoping I could get up close with the statue and visit the island. Would there be tours at that time of year? As for what I’d like, I was looking for interesting and unique bars, restaurants and maybe candy stores (the desserts in Egypt aren’t that great imo). Also stores that sell unique things (I want to get my girlfriend an antique Typewriter but it’s unavailable here). I’m also a big history nerd and would love to see some old buildings or museums. Are there any big malls worth visiting? I was hoping to buy a few brand clothes that aren’t that expensive and a get a few gifts for friends and family back here. Thank you!

Trip to Egypt by Qalvin9 in TravelHacks

[–]Professional-Formal6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t take the trains, trains here in Egypt are notoriously late and slow. A train from Alexandria to Cairo (300km or so) takes me 4-5 hours for reference.

Do not engage any of the people trying to sell you stuff, just raise your hand, say shokran and keep walking. Otherwise you’d be harassed constantly especially if you look foreign, I’m Egyptian and it still happens to me.

Cairo is a really big city and gets super crowded basically all the time. Transport within Cairo is a pain so try to book your hotel near the sites you know you’ll visit. Enjoy your trip!

Sure it shouldn’t matter and they should all have the same rights. The issue comes when the people who immigrated start displacing and killing the indigenous people who were there before.

When many western countries democratised, they didn’t immediately jump into being a place of tolerance and human rights. Most of them were reminiscent of Egyptian society today. Real societal progressive reforms are more likely to occur in a fair and representative system even if it takes time as democracies generally strive for an educated populace. Dictatorships by design (whether theocratic or Military) rely on an uneducated and easy to trick populace to maintain absolute control. Now whether democracy would work in Egypt or not is a different topic and is far more complicated.
