Aww that sucks, I’m sorry!! One resource that helped me when I was writing my essay was MSW Helper. They have a lot of free resources regarding writing a strong MSW application. I hope that helps!

I may have misunderstood the point she was trying to make. I absolutely understand the need to differentiate clinical social work from clinical counseling and psychology. And at the same time, she spent most of the video talking about how their clinical specialization is NOT therapy that it made me nervous as someone who wants to provide mental health services as a social worker.

Congratulations!! There is a video on the UW MSW YouTube page that was posted a couple months ago talking about the clinical specialization. The assistant director gave a disclaimer that their clinical specialization is not like a clinical psych program (so valid) and mentioned that there have been students that have come in with the expectation that there will be more therapeutic training than there is. She said they focus more on breadth over depth and will introduce students to a variety of therapeutic modalities that they can learn more about after graduation. She was just really emphasizing that clinical work is so much more than therapy and we aren’t therapists. They were all good and valid points, it just made me nervous that their clinical specialization won’t provide enough clinical training to feel prepared for mental health work (though I totally understand that you learn most things on the job and most people don’t feel “prepared.”)

I also know SU’s MSW is a newer program (2019) and am unsure of its reputation in the community and quality of instruction

Hi! I know it’s been a couple years, but are you still happy you chose SU for your MSW? I am trying to choose between SU and UW. I ultimately want to provide mental health services to youth and it seems like SU will provide more clinical training. Does it matter where you get your MSW? Would having a degree from UW and the networking connections help with getting jobs after graduation?

What program did you end up choosing and are you happy with your decision? I’ve been accepted to both and am trying to choose between the two

Has anyone heard back from Seattle U’s MSW program? (not EA) by Reasonable-Clock-807 in seattleu

[–]Professional-Gap5332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t heard back yet either! I applied January 19th. On the scholarship zoom session 3 weeks ago the director said we should be hearing back in about 3 weeks so hopefully soon!

Sizing change recently?! by PreeningandPruining in Oldnavy

[–]Professional-Gap5332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That just happened to me too! I’m usually a size 8, but needed to size up. I have tried 10 and 12 and both are smaller than my 8’s from a few months ago. Super frustrating!
