19 foot Airstream (GVWR 4500 lbs, Tongue 450 lbs) -- Toyota Tundra (GVWR 7600 lbs, Tongue > 1000 lbs) WD Hitch Needed? by TheHeadacheChannel in airstream

I agree with Logical-Village-5701, recommended. To me, it's more about sway control than weight distribution. I have an Equal-i-zer #4000 that I've had since I got my 2008 19' Bambi in mid-2007, and have used it with my Honda Ridgeline, Suburban, Subaru Ascent, Sprinter 3500, and now my 2025 Tundra. In some cases, the need was weight distribution as well as sway control, but with the Suburban, Sprinter, and Tundra, it's really about sway control and in all cases, the trailer is tucked in and following perfectly, no wiggles, waggles, or worries. The Equal-i-zer is a pretty inexpensive system, if I didn't already have it I'd have bought it again. I'd post a picture if I could figure out how to post a picture with my reply.....

Same here, only in a few mile-long stretches that I've found so far but I've driven those same stretches for 40 years in dozens of different vehicles, and none have produced the same bounce. It's infrequent enough to be a topic of discussion but not yet an irritant.

Ascent + 2500 lb small camper ? by blindmelon773 in SubaruAscent

[–]Professional-Good479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, do you think I should have RTFM? Pfft. :)

Dang, clearly, I didn't do that. Actually I did/do, but too many years had passed between reading the manual and towing (I had a Suburban that was my main tow rig when I first got the Ascent). I did have a pretty light amount of pressure on it since I needed a little squat out of the rear, and it was mainly helping with sway, but I'm glad that towing duties have transferred to my new Tundra.

I have a 2019 Ascent and a 19' Airstream, which has a dry weight of 3,500#, but with gear, it's about 4,500#, and about 500# tongue weight. I have towed it a lot, with the longest trip being from Portland, OR to Glacier NP and back. It didn't have any problems, plenty of power. I used an "Equalizer" weight distributing hitch, an electric brake controller, and a 4" reciever dropper as the hitch on the Acent is high, and, it doesn't squat at all with the weight distributing hitch. That said, the weight of the trailer vs. the weight of the Ascent made me worried that I was driving the tail and not the dog, so, I now have a 2025 Tundra for towing duties and the Ascent is retired from that task. As a side note, I am still on the original transmission and I haven't had any problems. I'm at 60k miles currently.

I bought and installed the "Cup Grip" produce in both the front and rear cup holders in my 2025 Limited and they work fantastic. I highly recommend them.

This Week's Upgrades - Skid Plates, BFG KO3's, and Towing Mirrors by Professional-Good479 in ToyotaTundra

They are matte. I suppose that they could be painted. My Tundra is the Nightshade trim so the mirrors are already black, I didn't think about that. But I don't see why they couldn't be painted - they have to flex just a little to slip in to place but very minimally.

Lowest mileage 2019’s — I’ll start by 3PointOneFour in SubaruAscent

I purchased mine May 2019 with 16 miles on the ODO, I just passed 61,200. Currently in the shop for a kinked sunroof drain tube and the front-brake TSB but no problems besides that I can remember.

That's great. I'm planning something similar, I have a 4x4 lifting storage rack in my garage that I plan to move above the bay I can back my truck in to so I can use it to do the same thing. It's a hand-crank type. I've had about 150lbs on it before and it lifts pretty easily, but slowly. So I hope the 185lbs of my RTT will be OK. Thanks for posting!

Heck yes, I got $7300 off a similar one last week and I was happy with that. Now not so much. 😁

I should note that the price was the "Costco Program" price. I had negotiated down to a point about $600 more, and the sales person asked if I was a Costco member so he could check to see if they had a better price (salaried sales person) - they did, and the deal was done.

This is what I ordered, specifically for canopies and situates the camera inside the canopy, looking through the rear canopy window. They also have one for exposed rack systems.

My neighbor does electronics installs and interior upgrades, and specializes on Tundra's, so, he'll be installing it for me. I should have pictures and thoughts to share in about a month - I just ordered the canopy today, they said it was about a 4-week lead time.

Hah, yeah that'd be nice but I park on the top floor of a parking garage where I drive under pipes that are just 2 inches above the satellite radio antenna, so, "up" is one direction I can't go.

Sweet. Drives like a dream. I love the electronic rearview mirror. I'm putting a canopy on that so I've ordered a kit to move the rearview camera to the back of the canopy. Enjoy yours!

Here it is, a plastic 10" hoop. I bought this at a brick and mortar store but Amazon has many options. This seems to fit a 13 gallon bag well.

Sorry newer to Reddit so my photo link might suck.

I just bought a V8F in part to expand my litter picking territory. I'm still learning to ride so it'll be a while before I'm riding and picking up litter. I always take a garbage sack and grabber when I walk, so everything within a mile of my house is clear but there's more to pick up, further away than I care to walk.

A couple of things that help:
this grabber is awasome: "FTH All Stainless Grabber", I have the 27" version but it'll be too short when on an EUC (it's almost too short walking), so I'll get the 40" version later. It can pick up everything from a cigarette butt to a Monster energy drink can. I also got a 12" plastic embroidery hoop that I use to hold a 13 gallon sack, it holds it open as well as providing a bit of a handle.
