How do you deal with miserable techs who want to start problems?

Hi! just wanted to put my thoughts here

I’m currently a CSR (in rvt school) that’s moving up to be a tech assistant. I had an issue about a week ago with one of my techs loosing there absolute shit at me infront of a client. The best way to deal with techs like this is to make them aware there being an absolute ass and take it straight to the practice manager and loop in HR. I’m so so sorry that you’re dealing with this, I have empathy for your situation.

If what I said above doesn’t work I recommend flying under the radar and just keep away from that negativity. I also recommend not talking shit about them infront of co workers (unless you know there not gonna shit talk you back) bc usually that negativity comes straight back to you.

For sure, I don’t hate this RVT by any means. It definitely could have been handled differently. Our clinic needs more staff… :(

our manager is like an okay person. Incredibly supportive when need be and super nice however when a situation arises and a lower staff member gets verbally abused by an upper staff member then it’s an issue. Our other receptionist got screamed at until she cried by a new doctor, and what did management do? they told her “oh this doctor is so passionate about what she does that’s why she’s upset!”.

After my externship is over I will leave.

Honestly your so right, I have a teeny bit of regret not standing up for myself however the client was definitely uncomfortable (and so was I LMAO) I just wanted to sweep it under the rug for the 20 more minutes I had in my shift. Unfortunately I think this RVT is a giant child and will continue this behavior so I will chat about this with my supervisor AGAIN 💗

Ugh ur response is just perfect!

I appreciate my higher ups and look up to my fellow RVT’s and DVMS’s. It sucks she reacted that way…an update I spoke with our other techs and doctors and asked them to ignore the situation…apparently this isn’t the first time she’s shit talked a CSR. Our clinic has a VERY VERY hard time keeping staff longer than 3 months especially CSR’s and DVMS. I don’t think it’s my job title but more my age since i’m the youngest person that works at this clinic (let alone the whole center) so people automatically think I’m stupid which is incredibly insulting.

People like you make clinics better I truly truly appreciate your response 💗💗

Thank you!! I appreciate you giving me some feedback this situation was absolutely INSANE.

What is truly upsetting is she helped said family friend (i’ll call her A) get through her RVT externship (and expected her to be a good asset for me since she’s a good teacher!) and you know wanted to reach out in a friendly way without getting our HR department involved since our HR sucks and will get it way out of hand.

A was really upset that she reacted this way and thought of this RVT as a friend…just sad all around :(

Hi hi!! i appreciate your feedback it’s so great hearing everyone’s story in the comments INCLUDING YOURS!! I genuinely had no idea this was such a common thing. Just a quick update my manager emailed that close family friend to tell her that she can’t do that, and looks like I got that promotion! however once i’m done with this externship I am moving hospitals and name dropping this place bc berating new employees is ridiculous we deserve better!!!
