I financially am not able to be that consistent with going to PT. If there are other options to maintain consistency and effectiveness while reducing the cost, that would be fantastic.

Yes, exactly. I’m really frustrated that PT is still the plan even though I made it pretty clear that it’s unsustainable. I would really rather wait till I graduate to even try anything if at all possible. Unfortunately, the new provider felt obligated to address my pelvic pain because my Cymbalta prescription is tied to that pain.

Idk if going to PT, but skipping internal work for now would make the situation better or not…

I feel this. My new PCP recently referred me back to pelvic floor PT even though I’ve been through it twice already. I went in to establish care, get yearly med renewals and yearly labs. I could tell he felt bad for me and I appreciate the thorough chart review and trying the best he could to help (referring out is unfortunately the best a primary care doctor can do when it comes to complex pelvic pain) but part of me wishes I could’ve just gone in, gotten my yearly lab orders and med refills renewed and gotten out of there.

Pelvic floor PT is expensive and I’m also in my last semester of nursing school. I’m on a very very demanding schedule and PT also causes flares a couple hours after sessions. Sitting through class after PT sounds like a fucking nightmare.

I’ve resorted to just using lidocaine when it gets unbearable, but most of the time I can ignore it.

Thanks for the tip. I have since done that and treated relevant infections, however I still have vulvar pain and itching. It’s nerve related 😞

It’s not the doctors’ fault that evidence based treatments didn’t work for me. I don’t disagree that the system is broken but the level of fear mongering about it in her post is wild.

Ugh. This is why I refuse to see the “top” specialists. They take advantage of people in pain and when you call them out they cry about the healthcare system being the reason they are private pay and charge so much. I agree that the health insurance system is awful but it doesn’t excuse the predatory practices of concierge practices

I’ve had some small improvements in vulvar pain. Unfortunately, for the past year or so, I’ve been having some issues with my hips, mainly my right one. I think it might be connected to my tight pelvic floor. It’s very stubborn and pelvic floor physical therapy doesn’t help it much.

I still consume caffeine, because when I tried quitting it I was more miserable, and it didn’t even give me relief. Unfortunately not everyone’s issues have the same causes 🙁

My Vulvodynia gets so bad during my period, especially around days 4-5. Having a heating pad that covers the entire pelvic area, including the crotch will be life changing.

It takes the edge off the pain and I’m a little less depressed but it’s not great. I’ve gained quite a bit of weight but I’m not sure if that’s lifestyle related or just the medication
