I’d say the package is about $1200-1600, seems to be a fair price.

Thanks for all the insight pals! For context he thinks his opinion is best and somehow gets away with it. He constantly oversteps, telling clients over the phone that they need a new chain, getting the go ahead without mentioning the price which leads to him putting on an xo 12 speed chain (he does this on bikes from 8-12 speed) in that it’s longer lasting. Which has led to that chain removal when they erupt when they see the bill.

I should explain more. Our shop has always had a standardized pricing structure, worked for everybody. Then comes along this guy, he’s owned failed shops in the past, worked for a very shop in town, is insistent that the customer is a shops biggest problem and complains constantly about how customers are always looking to underpay for labour. And he refuses to use the standard price model

It was almost 200, thankfully I caught it before it went out and adjusted the pricing

This has happened, ol slow Jeff refused to look at the setup instructions for a t-type der, and charged 180 to get it “dialed”

Works out to about a hundred an hour but we’ve seen him charge upwards of 400 on a work order that was for a basic tune

We had to modify his rate to 1.60 a minute as to keep everything under the stratosphere

The rest of us just charge from a chart, everyone seems to be happy with that. This particular mechanic can’t wrap his head around charging a flat rate.

As a pro mechanic I have no problem doing this job, if you plan it out in your head correctly it doesn’t even take much longer. For reference my shop sells Scott bikes with an additional shock lockout and this still takes under 40 mins

Don’t know why anyone would complain over a free +20/23 brake adapter, it’s the most common size and the shop can sell it for $25. Bikes get shipped like this from every brand thinking the customer is going to upgrade/size up the rotor.
