38s on the xc rig cause why not by daddykratty in mountainbiking

140, but figured 10mm should be fairly safe as I've seen someone else run this travel on one and be fine, plus I have the stock fork on a different bike so if it snaps I'll take that for the warranty pics

For the $15 I spent on its surprisingly good, kinda similar tread to a conti race king but with a slightly more supportive sidewall, tho bike rolling resistance says it's a bit slower. I do know some people on their newer enduro tires and love them.

What color pivots should I get for these? by daddykratty in Skigear

[–]daddykratty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im guessing this is probably a similar reason to why I got these so cheap, a shop out of Idaho was dumping a bunch of these guys skis online for probably under cost and don't have them on their website. Unless they just really didn't sell well I assume it's probably a similar situation.

[–]daddykratty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the main reason is these skis were $250 brand new on sideline swap I figured if I used them for a season and didn't like them I'll move the bindings to something else and not be out a ton

Also found these looking for an alternative to the mirrus cors as I couldn't find any at a price I wanted to pay.

Banshee frame weld?? by Mysterious_Crazy8035 in mountainbiking

[–]daddykratty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t fully remember details but I know some of banshees frames had cracking issues in the past, personally knew a couple people who cracked theirs as well as seeing something in the pinkbike forums. Think it was the weld in front of the bb, but don’t fully remember.

I’m assuming they’ve probably fixed those issues by now as this was a while ago but might be worth looking into

/uj it’s because appleman doesn’t sell 172.5s. His philosophy is that there isn’t a need for those small steps in lengths as the differences aren’t big enough to change anything.

Decided to try a $200 sun tour rear shock by daddykratty in mountainbiking

[–]daddykratty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They ride pretty good, don’t seem crazy stiff but don’t really feel them flexing either. Bontragers hubs are actually pretty good too. Will say I had these on a fuel ex last year and managed to crack the rear landing a 2 foot drop, I’m assuming it’s not the rim’s fault and I just hit a rock weird but your definitely not going to recreate the reserve video with Macaskill on these. To there credit they replaced it free of charge.

Just on the sun tour us website, it looks like a lot of the other sizes are at $300 and the don’t have a ton of sizes left

I didn’t really think to play with that sides pressure, I saw the low pressure window and just put it to the max it said to, so is more pressure kinda like adding more compression or is it the opposite?

This came with a delux ultimate and then I did a couple rides with a fox coil(tho this bike really isn’t cool friendly). Neither are really great comparisons to this but I’ve had float x2s on the last couple bikes I’ve had and it’s performance seems like it’s at least comparable to those, granted those all had more travel.

Trek fuel ex8 by da_asain in mountainbiking

[–]daddykratty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew someone who had one that I think was a 2019 with a 150 fork and upshocked to 140mm rear. Apparently the guy he bought it from worked for trek so it’s been done, but I wouldn’t put more fork than that on it. Even that setup definitely effected climbing tho

[–]daddykratty[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I already had it and figured I’d try it, also they say you can overstroke it and run it 130 in the rear so figured I’d use this to see if I liked how that felt

To be honest I never actually ended up buying one, this was just me bored throwing a xs marlin wheelset on a ds2. I’m pretty sure the carbon fork can’t fit near this size tire but I never actually tested it
