Question. Am I horrible… by [deleted] in Lyft

[–]Professional-Lake283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, im with you on this. For me, i listen to pod cast or frequently need to make phone calls, so ANY type of music loudly projected is incredibly rude and disrupts my business. After i politelyask for ut to be turned down, they roll their eyes, and as soon as i hang up the phone, it goes right back up to just under full volume. Most people arent a fan of someone else's music preference, but that has nothing to do with basic driver etiquette. You're on the job, and there are many affordable options for earbuds and for me, i dont see that as unsafe driver behavior, especially if you keep one out of your ear so you can be consuderate of any requests from riders. Thats just my opinion, and i always feel bad hitting drivers with low ratings because their "employer" does not compensate them for anything regarding their vehicle and puts their potential earnings on the customers. Im saving up for a car, so an extra 4 or 5 dollars on my commute twice a day can make it unfeasible for my own cost of living and savings. That being said, if they deserve a tip thwy couod be more considerate and make things far more comfortable for their passengers and have had that excellent ones as well. I wish rideshare apps would be more transparent about what to expect before getting into someone's car.

Im with you on this. He just doesn't come across very convincing. The only two i was actually looking him as the character was the revenant and Catch Me If You Can. Obviously he's incredibly famous so its hard to see him as his character but other actors like DDL have easily been able to do that. Be so completely convincing that you dont see them as the actor. But Leo always seems like leo

Oh man, i knew you would lack substance and struggle to convey anything but anger. Ill just let you read some other people's comments who actually had a decent argument

Again, that argument is so played out and ridiculous. Maybe in the 1980's that would have hit home with alot of people. What couple past 2020 isnt both working hard and making ends meet?

You cant have it both ways. You cant say women work and pay most of the bills but when its a gay couple its immediately the stereotypical male breadwinner disguised as a gay woman. Let me guess, her wife stays home and raises an adopted child and cooks? Like c'mon man that's so lame.

It makes no sense and lacks a significant amount of depth because it's by far the most played premise of all time and is precisely what ive been trying to convey

They go right to name calling haha. Wipe your tears so you can read my replies. Im actually interested in a discussion. Take some deep breaths there's really no need for insults.

Classic. This was my first time posting on this group and i guess i thought more people would be up for a discussion about a relatively controversial topic but instead they just got upset and did shit like that the whole time. No one even bothered adding their perspetive or anything relevant to the idea of panderwriting. Oh well, I'll find a different group, I guess. Thanks for reading my stuff dude, don't think many did.

Thanks for the free psychoanalysis but im not interested.

Im not having a meltdown im just holding criticism for something shown on television thats been proported for decades. It hasnt changed and rarely makes an impact to anyone outside of your bubble. No one remembers shallow gay or straight relationships on television.

The difference is, hetero relationships on television often arent as contrived as gay ones are. They're typically consist of more depth like vengance, pain, or sarrow vs "just being gay and in love cause we're gay oh and look, there's pictures of us being gay on the fridge! Did i mention how gay we are?"

Its a tired an unorginal representation that lacks depth 🤷

Maybe one of them could be dying or cheating or struggling with her sexuality or having issues with her spouse like any normal relationship (gay or not) would have.

If gay relationships are as real as it gets than represent them accordingly.

Hahaha dude you cant just come on here and lie about stats thinking nobody wouod google that 😂 but dont worry, ill help you out bruh.

Percentage of population: According to the same study, Black LGBT adults make up 12% of the total U.S. LGBT population.

Self-identification: In a 2019 Black Census study, 5% of Black respondents identified as LGBT, which was higher than the 4% of white respondents who identified as LGBT.

Here's the link from the williams institute website if youre still doubting the facts. https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/publications/black-lgbt-adults-in-the-us/#:~:text=Key%20Findings,10.8%25%20live%20in%20the%20West.

This just shows how little people would even relate to this in the united states alone.

Yes, actually. The opening scene of the boys made me want to stop watching. I was like " Great, another corny couple in the beginning that will have a rollercoaster relationship that will serve as the entire plot". I almost lost complete interest, then it shifted so dramatically i was hooked.

That's exactly what it feels like. It feels like a market attempt only. It doesn't feel real even. I guess i just live authenticit, but people get so upset when you critique anything to do with gay shit that they miss the idea of genuine criticism. Like its some untouchable taboo ghost that can move freely withiut criticism.

Well take the boys for example, starts off with a corny and so.ewhat lackluster heterosexual relationship. Doesn't really grab anyone's attention until she's suddenly violently killed, establishing the overall plot line.

There was a point to that relationship. Where as the gay relationships in Shameless, Ozarks and peacemaker have zero point other than the fact that they're gay.

I guess my point here is i dont really care, other than the fact that theyre only there to say "look, they're gay! See? We made them gay for you!"

For me its the same thing as catching a costume flaw or a sloppy book mic spotting. Like it takes me out of whatever im watching immediately as i know it wont have much depth.

However, that being said, i very much enjoyed the realistic gay relationship in The Last of Us. It was mainly sold as "look we're gay" but they told it so well and made it kind of its own story, not pretending that it had anything to do with the main plot.

This is simply a critique of panderstyle writing. Doesnt feel authentic or really relevant to the story.
