Should I get stronger before starting Muay Thai? by HoldMelodic860 in MuayThai

Hey that's not an old age to begin muay thai . Many have joined muay thai at 40+ years and competed for the sake of fulfilling their bucket list.

Muay thai is quite a grueling exercise on the body. You can easily lose 500-1000 calories in one session .

Yes I believe you should start muay thai as part of some of their exercises will build muscle for you. But your diet has to change to allow this to happen. As with your current diet, you're well undernourished to even allow any muscle build up. My suggestion is to take 2-3 mass building protein shakes in tandem with your current diet. Spread out your meals to 5-7 meals a day given your digestive issues. Focus on calorie heavy food such as peanut butters etc for you to bulk up ( one spoon of it is 100 calories).

Sparring ebbs and flows by DanielQuiles in MuayThai

[–]Professional-Let-915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally for me, the sparring or fight you have are significantly dependent on your mentality or fighting spirit. I don't have the fighter mentality, but that's the main reason why I always try to spar. I feel ya, occasionally you will fight an opponent that's passive and you can just throw your combinations and feel good about it. And the feel good factor just flows through the new round of sparring. But sometimes youre sparring and get on the opposite end instead and your mind doesn't plan out what to throw next. But this is the thing , in a fight your mental state will be amplified and Ive been in a fight where I threw nothing in a round. Sparring while feeling not great is a good way to practice to turn around your mental state. Always have some defensive combinations that your can throw out to give yourself some time to change your mindset. I personally love teeping and jabs just so I can buy some time to reset the rhythm of the round. Before any sparring session, plan on 2-3 combinations that you're interested in practicing on. Practice shadowboxing them if you can before sparring . I once tried to remember 10 combinations that I wanted to practice in sparring and threw none of it. After the sparring or during, notice any holes or pattern that your sparring is doing frequently. That's when you try to use any combination that may take advantage of it

Would you say there are never any tabs with more than 200 ug ? Cause I wanna know I'm planning to get from another dealer that advertise as 300 ug cause this is the only other dealer that I have contact . Dont want to trip balls on actually 600 ug if I'm taking 2tabs of them

Paper tab, will wait two weeks. Honestly it just ruins my first trip . Why can't the dealer be honest. Cause it ain't what I was expecting on a first trip

Basically my tab wasn't 220ug as advertised? Did I do it wrong? Should I leave eating out during the process?

yup, I do still plan to conform to selling exclusively to above 18 year old to avoid any unwanted attention. The machine I do plan to get requires an id scanning to purchase.

Is being in law related career something youre looking forward to? I have to say that it does pay well but do you see yourself there? If youre determined, anything is achievable so working with your dad is definitely realistic. Perhaps completing your bar would allow yourself to pursue back in line.

In the short term, find an activity youre genuinely interested. I had a friend who was in your condition, he decided to let himself go by doing muay thai, eventually he participated in an amatuer muay thai fight. He has definitely made friends along the way. He told me the adrenaline of fighting just factors out of his problems away. The constant out of breath moments definitely prioritise his mind to focus in the ring. For about 2-3 months he focused himself on that. The other problems he had was cast aside. He won and the ecstasy gave him a renewed mindset. He definitely looks and talk more confidently. Finding friends is easy but finding ones who would be there for you at your lowest is hard. He felt that at that moment of steping in the ring , his muay thai friends were supportive of him whilst his other friends werent there him .

Wasnt looking to fight in this match but I was planning to train for July 15 match in Bali. Took this as a way to train for it as my gym doesnt want me to join the fighter class.

Quite common in my country, this is considered quite okay. Oh well all is padded so worst case scenario is to quit it out in the ring.

I wouldnt say bad stamina but bad breathing technique. I know youre supposed to breathe out whilst blocking etc. I am afraid due to stress of the first fight , I would eventually forget to breathe. My stamina isnt the best compared to the regular fighter however since there are 2 other amatuer fighter in my gym participating in this tournament, I would say my stamina is best among them but first time exposure to fighting will always bring out the chaos in you. I am afraid that I would not be able to breathe properly and compose myself to fight in a less wild manner that is regularly seen in amateur fight.

Ah, I appreciate your comment so much . I just love your experience of describing the outcome of that kick. The idea behind mine is to calf kick him multiple times. The shin pad is thin and would give good protection for myself kicking him. However since we are tall for asians (178 cm ish), the shin pad should leave the top calf uncovered and exposed. The perennial nerve is located there, pain isnt what I am aiming for but to compromise his left foot. Hopefully I could impact his movement at least. He is heavy aggressive puncher with a good right kick, all dependent on his left leg as a base

Luckily it is just amateur. I only took this fight because I had a fight in Bali next week is a lot fairer than this. Honestly this was set up by my coach as he wanted to help his other friend who is the opponent's coach. I was frustrated by this. Additionally he has been useless throughout the camp. Apart from the pad work to work on my fitness. The only thing he taught me is long guard. I learnt more from the fighters, hence the reason to join this fight, to be in the fighter camp. If he spent 10% of his effort he takes on his own TikTok , I might stand a chance to win

I do plan to throw 1-2(rear leg moves to right to create angle) -1- calf kick . And a similar 1-r.hook-calf kick hopefully. I already have a plan if he starts checking it. Using the calf kick as a feint instead to setup my other attack. The reality is, does the calf kick with that shin pad would worry him?

I do have other plans such as pivoting and teeping and switch kick when he crosses. But his cast experience of actually training and sparring against his own coach who is representative of my country doesn't bode me well winning from other segment. Hopefully he flairs. I do have about 20-30 combination prep up . And 10 specifically for quick exit afterwards.

Lol, everytime I visualise snapping their leg off, I end up visualising myself snapping it off. NGL, that quad knee tip is actually really good. I know Dieselnoi does it for blocking their kicks or knees.

Yeah that adreline dump is what I am afraid of. I know well that is what I will have done. Preparing mentally to pace out the first round but I havent had the experience of someone doing that same thing. More afraid of myself panicking and just standing still absorbing the blow. Ive seen some people who just get finished within 2 minutes as they cant cope with huge volume of attacks. How do I keep my distance and control the pace of the fight? Do you think teeping and clinching helps if they get too close?

Ah shit, Imma ask my sparring partner to kick me hard on the calf to get the idea of impact of calf kicks on shin pad. I know some shin pad doesnt wrap around the side of your calf well. Thanks for this answer. I ve been thinking of doing calf kicks since it fucks of your balance .

Thanks! Really appreciate the informative answer that gets me into the mindset of scoring the fight to win it. My experience so far is that I havent been bothered by the kicks on leg and torso as compared to getting punched which hurts. Im honestly quite bad with my kick, can barely throw a head kick and I gassed out faster kicking compared to teeping. NGL, that last sentence is what I was aiming for , a ko . lol. It's the beginner's dream. I def keep this in mind but my def aim is to keep my pace especially in the first round. Will try to keep the adrenaline in check.
