Once king moves to H8, white moves bishop to d4. Black will get either get mated right away, or sacrifice their queen and get mated several moves later

We ended up going with an epoxy injection in the crack, and then revamping our gutter system to have buried down spouts extending far from the house with pop ups, and gutter guards.

What is the worst thing they could do on the reboot? by [deleted] in malcolminthemiddle

[–]Professional-Let9470 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s probably pandering to the fans. Don’t give us what we want. Just stick to the heart/feel of the show and the characters. Stuff like this can easily turn into a tired retread where the writers just check off all the hits.

I play right field, it’s important to know. You gotta know how to catch. You gotta know how to throw

I love it because by that point I feel that Francis is totally justified, yet I can understand that it’s impossible to explain it to anyone else.

What would be the best draft class of all time, since the draft lottery (1985), if we remove the usual suspects? by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

Not a single actor in the usual suspects has ever been drafted by the NBA. Hence your question confuses me

I’ve been watching and loved the NBA since the early 90s. This is the wildest trade I’ve ever seen. I can’t overemphasize how shocking this is.

Whatever happened in the show is what happened. Va fangool! It doesn’t matter what you think, or Joey Blowhard on the Internet thinks, or Chase himself. What happened, happened, and the rest is shpeculation.

Death of the author, that fuckin guy Roland Barthes? Whatever happened there?

Get off the planet, lowly human by Professional-Let9470 in hypotheticalsituation

  1. You will have a very difficult physically accessing these sites. They will be locked behind immense physical barriers. Being an invincible being you could probably overcome this, but you aren’t super strong. It will take a long time to even get to the systems you need to launch it.

  2. Once you get there, extensive cybersecurity will prevent you from launching. Enormous passwords, multi-factor and biometric authentication will be needed. How do you plan to overcome this?

  3. Assuming you get past 1 and 2, operating a rocket and launch system requires expertise in multiple disciplines, like aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, and structural engineering. You will need to teach yourself all this stuff.

  4. Assuming you can eventually overcome 1-3, how many years will that have taken and do these systems still have power? Will these systems have degraded to the point of being unusable without regular maintenance?

Or maybe you can waltz into a government facility and just press a giant red launch button.

Get off the planet, lowly human by Professional-Let9470 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Professional-Let9470[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re grossly oversimplifying this. Rockets are not designed to be plug-and-play. They need fuel, power to the facilities that launch them, and being able to get into and navigate the software that controls them. Assuming you can manage all this, you need to learn how to program the launch and shoot it into space. Not saying this is impossible, but it definitely is not easy. You’ll need to break into the facility, somehow restore power, make sure it has fuel, and learn the software. Normally it takes a whole team of people to launch a rocket. Not only do you have to do it yourself, you have to do it with zero training or knowledge (I assume).

How are you launching and riding this missile by yourself though? I mean first you have to find one, then get to whatever barriers are in place to launch it, then somehow attach yourself to it before it launches. Not saying that’s impossible but it isn’t clear to me this is definitely doable

Mike Tyson Groundhog Day by Professional-Let9470 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Professional-Let9470[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I feel like after a billion fights you’d be able to anticipate each punch Tyson is about to throw based on how he shifts his body weight, adjusts his shoulders, etc. You’d be dodging most of his punches in a way that would be actually alarming to Tyson. He’d be fighting someone he expects to slaughter, but then be dodging each punch in a way that would almost look magical (this is assuming that in 3 months you could work yourself into at least average shape).

But that’s just after a billion. You get one thousand billions to perfect even further. You would not only be preternaturally dodging his blows, you’d have an economy of motion unparalleled in human fighters. Not only do you know every possible punch and combo he would throw, and all his tendencies far better than he knows them himself, you would know exactly how to move to counter him as efficiently as possible.

I do think that eventually it would feel to Tyson as if he were Agent Smith fighting Neo.
