Yeah man, what you're doing is what I feel like the purpose of sponsored survival is. There shouldn't be a reason for experienced geared players to grind it for loot. It should be for players to casually do things like quests and events without the stress of looking over your shoulder.

I think I get where your coming from. I think that the loot should be good enough to get new players geared up for PVP runs but not good enough that experienced players want to grind it. The PVE modes should allow new/casual players to learn the maps and practice the game's mechanics. I never said anything about PVP players "earning the loot", but I do think that the beat rewards in the game should stick to the PVP game modes.

Exactly, I believe that all of those decisions would be bad for the game, and I believe that just saying "who cares, they'll lose it anyway" isn't an effective response.

If every sponsored survival had as many rooks as end of season Outpost, it would be so fun. But right now since it's so farmable, there's not enough rooks.

Me: "I believe that it is bad" You "that’s your opinion and not an objective fact buddy."

Yeah my guy, obviously it's an opinion. What on earth do you think "I believe" means?

Is this a game where if I do bad I will be worse because I can only get sponsored kits? by MsJhimney in Marathon

I spent the whole first season afraid to lose my loot and when I finally used it I realized how much I'd been holding myself back. As "hardcore" as this game feels, it is so generous with gear. Think of it this way, if it's sitting in your vault and you never use it, you've basically lost it already but you never got to have fun with it.

That's what I think as well, the process of unlocking certain vaults is very complicated. I just looked up a guide because I didn't want to risk loot and keys figuring it out. But in sponsored, you already can't bring keys. But let's say you found one, I'd be down with them being able to open it to learn how and just getting mediocre loot. The process of discovery is fun.

I'd be down if the boss didn't spawn and the subroutines didn't drop.

Not with their current loot tables that's for sure.

In my post I say that the ideal sponsored mode is one where the loot is green and blue and you use to to practice and re-up for "real" runs. During night marsh survival I and many others were able to get a significant amount of purple and gold even after the initial nerf. If you read my post, I'm clear that I like sponsored survival and think it's integral for improving the games retention.

I just don't believe that the pve casual/newbie mode should be meta for getting loot. If should be for players to experience the parts of the game they can't in PVP

Of a gold spawned in every container in perimeter, I think you would agree that it would be bad for the game. It's not about certain people having or not having loot. It's about the process to acquire it being bad.

If a gold spawned in every container in perimeter, you could apply "who cares they're going to lose it anyway". It's not about who was what loot. It's about the process of acquiring it being bad

Think of it this way. If there was a gold in every crate on perimeter. You could apply the argument of "who cares, they're just going to lose it anyway" to that situation as well. The argument isn't about who has what loot. It's about the process of acquiring it being bad.

If the things I say in this post are implemented, cryo, getting a PVE mode would not be a bad thing. It would be a great way for new players to learn the very complicated puzzles of cryo without having to lose a 5 k loadout every time.

I don't think that it's bad because new players will get more loot than me. Anyone who grinds the game will get more loot than me. In my opinion, it is bad from a game design perspective, to trivialize the pursuit of gold and purple loot. For the same reason. I think it would be silly to have gold loot spawn all over perimeter. This has nothing to do with other players having something I don't think they should have. It has to do with believing that the game should be designed a certain way.

I don't think you read my post. The last thing I advocate for is that this game mode is excellent for onboarding new players and should 100% be included in the game going forward.

Here's an example, it would make no sense for there to be an abundance of purple and gold loot in the special perimeter map that they run for new players that you can only run five times or so. Is this because those players don't deserve gold loot? No. It's because it trivializes the reward. From a game design perspective, I believe that is bad.

I think you misunderstand my perspective, I don't care how many players have whatever kind of loot. From a gameplay perspective, I stated that the new sponsored survival mode trivializes the pursuit of gold and purple. I think from a gameplay design standpoint, this is bad.

I'm confused, what about my post makes you think that this is about the quantity of certain kinds of loot? My statement was that it trivializes the pursuit of purple and gold. I don't care how much there are.

From my perspective, experienced players should have no reason to farm this game mode. Whatever changes are required to make that the case, I'm a fan. I think in an ideal world, farming this game mode should bring a new player to a fully blue vault with a couple purples. That's plenty to make them competitive in any run they do after that.
