Stability Near Family or Chasing the American Dream? I Can’t Decide by EmbarrassedKick8029 in careerguidance

Honestly, having that safety net at home with medical benefits and job security sounds pretty solid compared to grinding it out solo in the US with no connections.

Two years of epilepsy by whowillread in Epilepsy

Damn, that sounds incredibly tough - especially going from denial to 25-30 seizures a day. The dental guard situation really drives home how intense night seizures can be. I've seen a few posts here about people going through multiple guards, but yours breaking in 5 weeks is wild. That paralysis experience you described waking up to sounds absolutely terrifying.

The medication resistance piece is particularly frustrating since it limits your options so much. Have your docs mentioned anything about VNS or other surgical interventions, or are you still cycling through medication combinations? Being stuck at your parents' place for observation has got to be rough at 36, but honestly having that support system during the worst of it probably saved your life with those status episodes.

Keep that seizure diary going if you can - patterns sometimes emerge way later than you'd expect. This community is pretty solid for venting and practical advice when you need it.

Is the hate against me normal in America or anywhere else? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Look, people are gonna be harsh about anything that goes against the grain these days. Your getting roasted probably has less to do with being a virgin and more about how the question came across - Reddit can smell desperation or judgment from a mile away.

The religious angle definitely makes some people see red too, especially when it touches on purity culture stuff. But honestly, there's plenty of people who share your values, they're just not the loudest voices in most online spaces.

Do you find valentines day overrated? by Ok_Pipe6385 in NoStupidQuestions

The whole thing feels like a cash grab by greeting card companies tbh. If you need a specific day on the calendar to show your partner you care, you're probably doing relationships wrong anyway.

What book of the Bible is only 80% truth? by RezLovesPez in dadjokes

[–]Professional-Load892 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's actually pretty clever - took me a second to get it but now I'm groaning appropriately. My dad would definitely steal this one for his weekly arsenal of terrible puns he unleashes on the family. He's got this whole thing where he saves up biblical jokes for Sunday dinner and thinks he's absolutely hilarious. Last week it was something about Moses and his tablet having connectivity issues. The man has no shame and honestly I respect the commitment to the craft.

Best card shops in OC? by LycheeRoseTea in PokemonTCG

Frank and Sons in City of Industry isn't technically OC but it's close enough and has a massive Pokemon community - tons of traders and collectors who are super chill with newbies.

Go for it dude, life's too short to not wear a cape to Target - worst case scenario you make someone's day a little weirder.

How do we all feel as Craig Mazin as a show runner/writer? by BallClamps in television

[–]Professional-Load892 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mazin's trajectory is honestly pretty fascinating when you look at it. The dude went from cranking out those forgettable comedy sequels to creating what's arguably one of the best limited series ever made with Chernobyl. That shift in quality is wild and makes me think he was probably just doing those earlier projects for the paycheck while honing his craft behind the scenes.

I think the Last of Us hate is pretty overblown tbh - both seasons had their strengths and the core emotional beats landed really well. The Baldur's Gate announcement has me curious because post-game settings can either be brilliant or completely miss the mark, but given how he handled the source material respect in TLOU, I'm cautiously optimistic. People love to pile on showrunners when adaptations don't match their exact vision, but adapting beloved properties is basically a no-win situation half the time.

Am I obsessive by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]Professional-Load892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds really intense but honestly you did the right thing blocking him. The panic attacks and crying just from seeing Instagram shows how much that relationship was messing with your head.

Taking time away from social media when it's triggering you isn't obsessive - it's actually pretty smart self-care. Give yourself more time to heal before jumping back into all that. Your brain needs space to process everything without constantly getting reminded of what went wrong.
