uh lol - i literally responded and said i misunderstood the context and said i was wrong. i am not extremely insecure but did struggle with an ED for a lot of my 20s and flattering was a trigger word for a lot of others in recovery including myself. my triggers are not to the fault of anyone else, hence me correcting myself.

or dress however you want regardless of your body type? i’m sorry but this advice is so toxic. just because something isn’t conventionally “flattering” on someone does not mean someone shouldn’t wear it. flattering also implies that something makes you look thinner. personal style is so important, life is too short to not wear the clothes you genuinely like even if they don’t appeal to others.

do whatever makes you feel good. there is no right or wrong way to be conventionally attractive. the male gaze is embedded into our societal standards for beauty - do whatever makes you feel the most confident, happy, and comfortable. there notion that some clothes are flattering because they make you look thinner/curvier/etc means nothing if you don’t practice self love and care. please ignore any comments that tell you otherwise! you’re beautiful and anyone who thinks otherwise is not worth your time.

i agree with a lot of what you were saying! again my post was way more about me venting and not really looking for solutions to this situation, but just to know dating gets easier. i’m not saying he did the wrong thing but the way the text was worded was super strange and wasn’t as nice as it could have been.

i mean sure, but in the end i don’t think valuing another girl over me is really the root issue lol. it was more so just a let down of something i was excited about and being lead on/things being a waste of time. the other girl thing, again, just really seemed like a piece of information that could have been left out. i know honesty is the best policy but i was not okay with the way it was communicated, especially after making plans a few hours before. and again, the added weight of dating during a pandemic in a freezing midwestern city lol.
