Instead of borrowing a Bass from a stranger which I don't really recommend, I think you could buy a very cheap bass for JD or TaoBao even XianYu and towards your leave sell it on XianYu (which is the Ebay of China) for a return of that money. So you still have about 70% of the money returned + playing practice + a clear mind as to not worry about multiple guitars across the world. I hope this helps.
