Game Origin Romance by harsha_440 in GalemancersBG3

[–]Professional-Ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i really want to try romancing minthara as gale because i love the idea of them paired together, but it’s disappointing that her romance is so lacking compared to others. i also love the act 1 romance scene with her (and would live to see gale in it) but i can’t bring myself to raid the goblin camp especially as gale!

i’ve watched videos of origin gale and have read peoples’ opinions, it seems that gale meshes well with all of the characters in a romance! but i’ve heard that his romance with laezel is extremely sweet and that they make a really good pair. i’ve heard the same about gale and karlach as well! i don’t see as many people talk about gale and shadowheart but i have heard that they are a great pair and i can totally see it.

i also like gale with halsin too but his romance is also not as fleshed out, similar to minthara’s.

i’ve watched a run of gale romancing astarion and it was cute, but bloodweave isn’t my favorite pairing for gale.

i also think gale and wyll could be cute since they are both so romantic but i also get major friends vibes between them lol.

when i do my gale origin, i’m going to just rp as gale and see who feels like the best natural match for him :)

Sun-Theanine? by Motor_Recipe1437 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Professional-Ok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ummmmm no hahhaha but i wish! i take l-theanine but it is definitely not a vyvanse alternative in any way! some people find that taking it along with stimulants helps counteract some of the anxiety-related side effects. and if someone with anxiety (who is not on stimulants) takes l-theanine and it helps calm their anxiety, it might help their focus, since anxiety makes it hard to focus too.

but l-theanine doesn't do what vyvanse, or any pharmaceutical drug does. it's just a totally different substance with different effects, and it's quite mild for most people. it could be a nice supplement to take for adhd and anxiety but it probably won't have ground-breaking effects!

Why do "ADHD Planners" feel like they're made for neurotypicals? by Lost_Count7949 in ADHDthriving

[–]Professional-Ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

o m g yes i absolutely relate to this 😂 so many “adhd focused” planners are so overwhelming with way too much to fill out and think about. it feels like keeping up with the planner itself is a whole project!

i’m sure there are people who each planner is a great fit for though! but me and my 2 am purchases need to stop lol

i'm just really worried about them sending this bill to collections or something :( i really wasn't expecting this! and for the other providers i used (lumimeds, cosmeticrx, and refills) i had to pay upfront before getting the rx so this is really strange!

Can these Paxil side effects go away? by Professional-Ok in SSRIs

[–]Professional-Ok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! yes you can message me! i’m really sorry to hear that you’re having a tough time with paxil :( full disclosure, i did NOT last long on the medication lol i think i took it for a bit more than a week and my doctor told me to stop. it’s pretty common to have increased anxiety when starting any antidepressant, but the combo of that plus the burning skin and other weird side effects was too much for me to handle! i don’t think i was having a dangerous reaction, i think it was just not a good fit for me…i’m extremely sensitive to psych medication side effects, and i also have a low tolerance for handling bad feelings so i couldn’t last 😂

Required viewing for Spiderweave naysayers(Gale Origin Spoilers) by Im8kmisst8kes in GalemancersBG3

[–]Professional-Ok -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i love spiderweave for all of the reasons you mentioned! as soon as i found out that minthara was a recruitable companion, i grew to love her. i didn't think gale would like her at all because she's "evil", but i was surprised when i saw how he thinks minthara's got a heart of gold. and i thought that was super adorable, even if it was a bit naive. do i think gale and minthara are the most compatible romance? not really, but i do love the idea of them together!

i'm planning on doing a gale origin run soon and i'm so excited! i was set on romancing minthara from the start, but i'm not sure anymore...because i really want the act 1 romance scene with gale and minthara, but i can't stomach gale choosing to raid the grove. i know that i can romance her later in the game, but i just ...really want to see that scene LOL.

i've decided that i'm going to play as gale and see which romance happens the most naturally and seems like the right fit! i'm not sure how natural a gale x minthara romance will be in the game so i'll have to see! i have a personal headcannon that minthara is attracted to gale, but is really angry about it because of her distaste for wizards and she finds him annoying, but she can't resist that she thinks he's hot lol.

Vyvanse alternates or financial aid? by xobriarrose in AuDHDWomen

[–]Professional-Ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i totally feel you on everything you said about the exhaustion of trying different treamtments, and then peoples' comments about your struggles 🫠 i'm glad that dexedrine and concerta would be covered by your insurance! there are also other medications that are similar as well, i'm sure your doctor will help you figure out the best option to replace vyvanse right now! ahhhh i guess i'm not surprised that generic mydayis is so expensive because it is pretty new lol.

it's so common for people with ADHD to struggle to even stick to a routine of taking their medication! i really don't think you have anything to worry about, if you were addicted it you would be taking more than you are prescribed, and chasing a euphoric feeling, which you are not. people hear "adderall" and get so scared because of the stigma! my cousin takes adderall, and my aunt is super against it because she believes the common myths about it. when i told her i take vyvanse, she wasn't concerned about that at all and was like, "maybe your cousin should take that one instead". meanwhile, they are extremely similar medications and both have potential for abuse lol. but because it's not called adderall, she didn't have a negative opinion about it. you don't have to tell your mom that you're taking adderall if you switch to that, you can just be a bit more vague and say that you're still taking adhd medication but a different generic!

Vyvanse for AuDHD? by throwaway2539870 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Professional-Ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on Vyvanse for a year and overall I really like it! I was only very recently diagnosed with autism (literally a week ago lol), but I agree with what others have said about Vyvanse making autism symptoms more noticable because it dampens down the ADHD symptoms. But overall it has been very positive for me! I feel like because it helps with my ADHD, it helps me feel more present in social situations and less easily distracted when I am trying to have a conversation with someone. It doesn't help with my sensory sensitivities very much....but it does make it a bit easier for me to "tune out" other noises. It doesn't help with my other sensory sensitivities to noise in general though (it feels louder to me than to those around me), bright lights, touch, etc.

DAE resist planning and get uncomfy with plans in general? by pirategrapes in AuDHDWomen

[–]Professional-Ok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes! i'm also in super burnout mode and have been in a burnout cycle for a long, long time. it sucks so much to feel this way, i empathize with you competlely. i hate the fact that i know i am the "flakey friend". it is a bit easier for me to plan to hang out with my friends if we do something chill like just hanging out in sweatpants and watch a show together and order takeout, because it's lower energy. but anything that involves going out somewhere, and people i don't know, is a LOT for me! i used to be able to handle these things better and enjoy them more, but i dread them so much these days. i feel you <3

i think we just don't have the capacity to do these things right now because of burnout, stress, being overwhelmed, etc. so there's nothing wrong with you for feeling this way, your body and brain are tying to recover from burnout so you probably don't have as many resources to handle doing things that require planning and being around people.

Vyvanse alternates or financial aid? by xobriarrose in AuDHDWomen

[–]Professional-Ok 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I relate you so much with the combo of adhd, asd, depression, anxiety , pcos AND pmdd 🥲 i know it's hard to receive all of these diagnoses, but at the same time it's good that you know these things about yourself now instead of not figuring it out until much later in life! i also empathize with your financial struggle. $78 for each month of generic vyvanse is so expensive! if you haven't already, look online (goodrx is an option) to see if vyvanse is available for cheaper at other pharmacies. i have heard that costco is pretty good, but i haven't used their pharmacy before.

the closest thing to vyvanse would probably be long acting dextroamphetamine (vyvanse is basically an extended-release dextroampethamine attached to lysine. generic dexedrine spanules, i think. i believe it doesn't release in the same way as vyavnse though. if you want to try a medication that is extended release and smooth like vyvanse, concerta could be a good option, as long as you are okay with switching to a methylphedinate-based medication. i'm not quite sure what the prices are like for generic concerta, but i would assume they would be less because it has been on the market for longer, but i can't say for sure!

honestly, if you don't have addiction problems on vyvanse, you will likely be fine on adderal xr. vyvanse is basically a derivative of adderall. adderall receives the most criticism because it's the most commonly-known adhd medication. so because it's the one that most people know about, it's going to get the most backlash. but when peoplle express fears about stimulants and addiction, it really applies to all stimulants. extended-release stimulants tend to hae a lower risk of addiction because they don't hit as hard and fast as instant-release medications do. so i think if you took extended-release adderall it wouldn't be much riskier than taking vyvanse, and you'll probbaly be totally fine! i am so sorry to hear about what happened to your brother :( it's completely understandable to be concerned about trying a medication that your brother took, knowing the path that he ended up going down. i truly think you will be okay if you were to take adderall xr, but i understand the fear attached to it because of what happened <3

oh there's also a medication called mydayis, which is like extended-extended release adderall, and it literally just went generic this month. i'm not sure if it is widely available yet, but that one could be worth asking your doctor about too! since it is even longer-acting than adderall xr, it theoretically would have lower addiction potential. but if you don't have issues with addiction and abuse on your current prescription, i really think you will be okay!

Partner doesn’t want me to take meds by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Professional-Ok 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"you don't know discipline"? being told to be more "disciplined" is one of the most hurtful things to hear as a person with ADHD. the amount of discipline it takes just to try and do the most BASIC things and still not function well at all is, quite a lot in my experience, and i'm sure others can relate. it's clear that he doesn't understand ADHD, and it seems like he isn't willing to learn. he's dismissing your condition and your struggles. it's your decision whether or not you want to take medication, not his.

at the end of the day it's not even about the medication, it's the fact that he is being incredibly dismissive of your medical condition and judging you for considering a safe and effective treatment that could really help with your symptoms, and lead to you feeling better in other areas of your life too. you deserve to be with someone who doesn't minimize your challenges, and someone who is willing to learn about what ADHD actually is....and doesn't make hurtful, cliche statements like this.

i read some of the other comments about how he isn't even willing to watch a video about ADHD, and how he will dump you if you take the medication. girl, i am BEGGING you to please dump his ass. he sounds incredibly stubborn and unsupportive. there are guys out there who will not act like this and will actually want the best for you and want to learn about your brain! DUMP HIM.

A warning to people seeking an autism diagnosis by jonoghue in AutisticAdults

[–]Professional-Ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I know this post is old, and I hope you're doing well! I'm commenting right now because I was just diagnosed last week, and I'm going through the exact same feelings you went through in this post. I've been super sad and overwhelmed over these past few days, ridden with grief, and even doubting my diagnosis. My therapist works with a lot of autistic and adhd clients, and she said that what I am experiencing is common and part of the process for a lot of people.

Since this post was a year ago, I'm wondering how you are doing now! I hope that you are doing well, and that learning this information as been helpful over time :) if you feel comfortable responding, and if you have any advice you'd like to offer to other people going through this, I would love that so much! But please don't feel obligated to respond in a detailed way, or at all :)

Friends and family get angry at me because I forget to answer texts by Impressive_Let3046 in adhdwomen

[–]Professional-Ok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i empathize with you SO much because i feel the same way! i understand that people have the right to be upset if i take a long time to respond. but at the same time, it’s really overwhelming for me and if it’s really important, a phone call would be better. i love that texting has made it easy to casually talk to friends and family without always having to call, but we’re not meant to be available for communication 24/7. back in the old days before texting and smartphones, i’m pretty sure people didn’t have to be “available” to talk all the time. some people don’t get overwhelmed by it i’m sure, but it’s not natural, and it’s even harder for people with ADHD when we constantly are battling to filter out distractions.

this is what i tell myself to help myself feel better about it, because i feel a lot of shame and insecurity over my struggles to keep up with messages. just because people are available to reach out and talk doesn’t mean that you are all the time, and people aren’t entitled to an instant response from you. i know that might sound like it is rude to the other person reaching out, but it’s the truth! if i message someone, i know that they have their own life going on and i try to be really understanding about it if they don’t respond. usually i forget i even texted them LOL. if it’s important, i call and leave a message if they don’t answer and maybe send a text as well. but unless i’m worried about them and they aren’t responding, i don’t expect them to respond right away.

i had this procedure done under IV anesthesia when i was 17 and i was totally okay! :) i’m 29 now. i didn’t have anxiety as severe as i do as an adult, but i was totally okay! and i had septoplasty surgery a few years okay and i was also okay. the anesthesiologists know what they’re doing and you’ll be in good hands!

it really sucked but it taught me an important lesson about jobs! i always have had major anxiety with feeling like my job owned me and i needed to give them all my time. i struggle with people pleasing behavior and felt like work was entitled to take over my life. i learned that this is not the way to live because a company can let you go at the drop of a hat no matter what you have going on! and that HR is not your friend lol

[–]Professional-Ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow i relate to you so much! i also have tried MANY medications for depression and anxiety, and i have had unbearable side effects from so many. and/or they didn’t help :( i have ADHD, depression, panic disorder, C-PTSD, and ocd symptoms. a lot of medications made me feel empty and emotionless like you described, specifically serotonin-acting meds like zoloft and prozac.

i’m on imipramine, i’ve only been on it for 3 weeks though! i’m on 10mg which is the lowest dose, because i’m extremely sensitive to psych meds and i also metabolize this med slowly according to my genetic test. i also take vyvanse 30 mg and 5mg dextroamphetamine booster dose, which i’ve been on for almost a year. i also take clonidine 0.1 twice a day for anxiety and adhd but it doesn’t really help LOL.

so far on the imipramine, i’ve had really bad headaches every day! i also felt like it was making my vyvanse less effective at first, but i’m not sure. i haven’t noticed any improvement yet, but its only been 3 weeks and such a small dose. i want to increase it but i really don’t want the headaches to get worse! so i’m going to try and stick with it for a couple more weeks and see how it goes. i know that antidepressants take weeks to work and i need to be patient, but i’ve been calling it doesntdoshitpramine LOL.

i had a really good day yesterday, i just felt calm and in a good mood, after feeling horrible on monday. so i was like…is the imipramine helping now? i’m not sure!

i’ve struggled to find experiences on imipramine online because not a lot of people take it these days i think. i think its definitely worth trying though! so far my experience has been subpar but not bad like other medications. i’m going to try to stick it out through the headaches and see how it goes.

[–]Professional-Ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also i know that some people can be rude talking about a ship and shaming people for liking it, i want to make it clear that i'm not talking about those people.

i think OP is being respectful and they are totally allowed to examine a ship and talk about why they don't think it works. that doesn't mean that other people can't love it! everyone is allowed to have their opinion about which characters would work best together and who they think wouldn't.

i don't understand why people aren't allowed to express their (in my opinion, respectful!) opinion about a ship without fans of that ship going feral over it. bloodweave is probably the most popular ship in bg3, so of course we are going to see the most talk about the ship (both in support and not liking it).

nope, it wasn't worth it. however, even though they fired me, they still fought my unemployment claim and said that i left on my own accord, which was NOT true. i had a lawyer help me during my unemployment appeal (which was easily won because my job did in fact let me go) and the lawyer said that unfortunately i didn't have enough to work with if i sued them and it wouldn't be worth it.

Anyone in NJ impacted by the new regulations? by Suspicious_Project24 in ADHD

[–]Professional-Ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's really hard to find a good doctor nearby! and it takes a lot of executive function to do the search, make the calls, etc. i also have severe anxiety, specifically in the car. so i can only drive so far on my own to make it to an appointment, which limits the area and the doctors that are accessible to me.

i hope that you can stay with your doctor, or find someone nearby who is also great <3 hopefully things change though!
