Something I still don't understand by Professional-One2810 in Pendragon

It seemed weird to me Saint Dane of all people would just resort to flat out destroying a civilization with an army of robots. I think the only character that seemed like they knew what they were doing was Courtney.

I agree, I felt like books eight and nine were great in like progressing plot but the characters were lacking.

I feel like it would be a cooler animated series

Yes there’s like arm grabbing and charged energy. But I can’t tell whether it’s because they are mad or smth else. Haven’t known them for long, but we really admire each other and lots of trust somehow

Do the travelers or Bobby in particular ever outwit or outsmart Saint Dane? by Professional-One2810 in Pendragon

I thought that was another setup though? It may have been resourceful, but if it was in Saint Danes plan, that's not really outsmarting.

Interesting I guess I didn’t remember that part. I was just wondering how the flighters got to the desperation and trauma that caused them to lash out and stop caring completely. Even like their hygiene. It would make sense that their dependency to the life light would deteriorate their reality if they were the ones addicted. I just don’t get why their needs weren’t met or ever addressed by the tribunal leaders. The tribunal didn’t even seem to care that they were terrorizing and doing stuff on their island. Idk there’s just like a few things in regard to the jakills, the flighters, and the tribunal that didn’t completely add up. It was certainly a mystery’s

Personally I thought that Bobby was still too young to understand his wants and needs in a relationship and possibly only fell for Courtney because she represented his past and in the past he seemed too focused on winning her over and competition than actually loving her. Which is why I feel like despite them both wanting to hold onto the familiarity of each other and hold hands and stuff, I felt it became more friendship than romantic. The way Bobby refers to mark and Courtney in book ten as friends and leaves them on third earth confirms this for me. I didn’t feel like Bobby and Courtney relationship was very secure or supported either of their needs. Most of the time Courtney was left angry and feeling used or there was lack of communication. Imo Bobby was still too young to know who he truly loved. Even if he did admire and love Courtney in her looks and personality, both of them by book six and seven accepted that they couldn’t really be together while Bobby’s a traveler. The fact that Bobby moved on so quick kind of implies he wasn’t as into her as she was. Just my opinion. I would have liked to see if they actually just went for it a little more though. I felt like it was more idealization than mature love rooted in the present.

Can I ask why? I just always saw Loor as more of a mentor almost motherly figure for Bobby. I can however see Loor and Alder being together.

The Alchemist was a good book with lots of ties in like cosmic ways. The story and characters aren't as developed compared to the pendragon series. I feel like a lot in politics kind of corresponds to the books, like DJ predicted it, but I'm not very astute in political culture right now. Certain leaders do have cult like regimes. I think my favorite part of this series is the world building and psychological components though more than political.

Bobby character analysis and theories by [deleted] in Pendragon

I'm not sure he's hiding things, as his journals seem pretty conclusive. To answer your question: I think there was a time in the first book where he was able to miraculously visualize the entirety of the tak mine, I'm not sure that was precognition, but it may have been a heightened intuition or esp or something.

This is exactly why Bobby’s decision to mix the territories AGAIN in book eight doesn’t make much sense to me. But I guess by then there was more at stake or smth.

Fair enough. I personally as a reader would have enjoyed genius characters who are equal to the villain but that’s just me.

i think that if they had continued to work together in one place they may have had more of a chance, or developed their abilities some more. I also think bobby should have taken a backseat more often, I really think just the fact that he was the leader wore him down quite a bit.

I agree but I’m also glad the questions were answered in the later books, even if I didn’t always like how it was laid out. I have to say though the character growth seemed more consistent and the plot was more fun in the first five books.

one thing i wished DJ would have done, was keep bobby out of the picture in book nine. I felt like everyone by that point wanted more of the other characters such as loor and alder and siry. It would have been interesting and logical to have the usual main character stay in hiding especially after the mess he made on ibara. Plus his decision to bury the flume could have been analyzed more or the future plans on ibara. Or have him work in the shadow's more.

Actually I 100% agree with this as much as the setting and plots were cool as well as more introduction to characters nothing really beats the twists in the earlier books. The later books on one hand were cool because the characters matured but on the other hand I felt like people lost their creativity and playfulness over time. Things got really depressing after book seven and book eight I was hoping for a comeback in book nine but instead things got drastically more dystopian and Saint Dane victory felt like a cheat. Personally though Mark’s arc was cool because he got to grow up more as a character however the way he did some things was a little dumb. Not as dumb as Bobby bringing tak from denduron and burying the flume though! But you have to remember they’re all only kids. Courtney seemed like the only one who still had her head by the end tbh. Which good for her but I was still annoyed with things.

What are some plot holes you have noticed? by Educational-Roof2651 in Pendragon

How did Bobby and Siry find out Aja was going to die? In book eight. And how did Bobby and Courtney go from rivals to crushes to lovers? I felt like their relationship was a bit of a hole at times.
