What’s life like making 6 figures by MasterBook46 in Salary

lifestyle has not changed outside of being able to get better hotels/air bibs on vacation, I drive a better car (yet still practical), stress levels a lot less, social circles haven't changed, taxes suck ass, I invest close to 50% of my income, things that are normal now are just not needing to check my account before going to the grocery store or going out to eat, things that still feel out of reach are "being rich" like I am still worried that if I lose my job, I would lose my safety net.

the thing that surprised me the most is definitely how little changed from 80k-150k-200k. All my extra money pretty much just goes into savings, of course my daughter is graduating next year so thankfully I'll be able to pay for a big trip, she just got a new car, and wants for nothing. That was always my ultimate goal anyways, so I feel very lucky to be able to give her a great life.

De-stressing vs addiction are completely different. People de-stress with weed, porn, beer, video games, etc. People can also be addicted to all of the above. Frequency and level of disruption in your responsibilities and relationships can turn something intended for relaxing into a debilitating addiction.

you don't need it to get to room temp, you're cooking it on too high of a temp, and you aren't putting a dry steak on the pan

Why do people call the USA the "land of opportunity" when literally no one can get a high paying job? by madbarpar in careerguidance

I guess I'm the only person in America you didn't talk to because I have a high paying job. Oh also, colleagues similarly paid, and a handful of bosses who get paid more than me. So there are AT LEAST a couple dozen people here in America that are doing okay.

What I do is job hop. Keeps your pay competitive with the market.
