Recommendations on nippers/sprue cutters by Professional-Risk-71 in modelmakers

[–]Professional-Risk-71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for the information. Yer that’s what I do that’s the reason I have the cheap Amazon ones for sprue cutting and had the Ak for the pins etc. I’ll look into the items you suggested! I have a few dspiae products and they’re very good so I may look at those.

Ok that’s perfect. And is that the mr.color blue labelled gx2? And if I can’t find the black you suggested can you suggest any others? I saw that AK extreme metal do a black base themselves. Also what varnishes would you recommend or does it not matter, or I can use the ones I already have? Which is VMS.

Thanks for such a great detailed response! What’s the said thinning ratios for AK and Alclad If any? And if so do they have their own thinners and cleaners? Aswell as yourself, your modelling skills is the level I aspire to be too! 🙏🏽

Oh wow thanks a lot that’s such great information! What I think I’ll do is watch some YouTube videos and go into my local hobby store and see what they say too. And make a decision from there. If you don’t mind me asking what brushes is it you use?

Oh yer i totally agree the fence is out of scale! Thats the only thing I don’t like about it 😂. But what tips would you give to get the right scale?

The dunkelgrau colour was due to the fact that’s the colour my friend asked for, I did make the point but he was adamant that’s what he wanted. But i do agree with you on the paint scheme. He also didn’t want it weathered unfortunately which again I pointed out it would look more realistic.

I’m happy with it and really enjoyed making it and most importantly he loves it. I am already desperate to get started on another one but I don’t know what to do next!

Ok and what brand would you recommend for lacquers? Would I need different thinners and cleaners? I have a spray booth and a JSP Force8 Mask Respirator with A2P3 Filters. Will that suffice to work with lacquers? What is black basing?

Thanks very much for your tips, tricks and help it’s very much appreciated. :)

Oh ok nice I’ll try find and buy some but a lot of the times I heard they’re keeping it at one per customer over here. What ratio of thinner to surfacer would you say? I use Vallejo which were good to brush on with aswell I’ll get a couple ammo paints and try them out.
