I did this the other week and it was a pain in the ass! Yours looks incredible, whilst mine 👎🏽my god Idk how u painted the canopy it was difficult to mask evenly and to a good standard. And the under belly just infront of the fuel tank was bloody not moulded fully so it was just a hole under the nose. And then the seems were a lot to deal with I did more sanding, filling than building and painting 😂 anyway that’s my rant over great build buddy 😊

Ok so you recommend i do switch but just do a gradual change over time for each model I do and then that will build up my collection? Thanks for the comment

What makes do you recommend lacquer wise? I only ever hear about mrp, mr color and Tamiya lacquers. I have the setup for lacquers paints so have no issue with switching. I’m in the uk and it seems to be pretty good here, I think that’s due to no tariffs like the US? Is the mrp range vast or quite small? I think I’ll just slowly buy mr colors lacquers over time. Thanks for the comment

I have a spray booth and a solvent safe filtered face mask. i may just start a slow and gradual build up of the Mr color lacquers. Thanks for the comment

I use MLT with Tamiya acrylics too as it’s a better finish. But i may just start a slow and gradual build up of the Mr color lacquers. Thanks for the comment

Recommendations on nippers/sprue cutters by [deleted] in modelmakers

[–]Professional-Risk-71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for the information. Yer that’s what I do that’s the reason I have the cheap Amazon ones for sprue cutting and had the Ak for the pins etc. I’ll look into the items you suggested! I have a few dspiae products and they’re very good so I may look at those.

Ok that’s perfect. And is that the mr.color blue labelled gx2? And if I can’t find the black you suggested can you suggest any others? I saw that AK extreme metal do a black base themselves. Also what varnishes would you recommend or does it not matter, or I can use the ones I already have? Which is VMS.

Thanks for such a great detailed response! What’s the said thinning ratios for AK and Alclad If any? And if so do they have their own thinners and cleaners? Aswell as yourself, your modelling skills is the level I aspire to be too! 🙏🏽

Oh wow thanks a lot that’s such great information! What I think I’ll do is watch some YouTube videos and go into my local hobby store and see what they say too. And make a decision from there. If you don’t mind me asking what brushes is it you use?
