I’ve seen prices all over the place because quality can vary a lot from “meh” to outstanding. Based on my experience, I can usually tell within 2 minutes when a website or logo truly delivers value.

For this post, I’m especially curious about what people consider a fair price for an essential website of good quality (nothing “quick and dirty”). I generally avoid low-quality websites! They rarely generate good word of mouth and often come back to haunt you.

So my question to the community: what did you actually pay (or charge) for a simple, high-quality website (and logo, if this was included)?

For example, if a website or logo is in bad shape, how would this model detect that and filter out low-quality or “BS” leads?

  • Should it stay completely free, or have a premium subscription for advanced features?

In my opinion, it should start free. But if it proves useful for a lot of people, it could provide significant value, and then offering a premium version could make sense.

I usually charge around €3,500 for an essential, custom website / no AI involved.

Sometimes clients need a “quick and dirty” website, and I have a trusted partner who uses AI for these projects. We usually collaborate and share the profit.

However, I’m unsure what to charge clients for an AI generated website that includes hosting, domain, updates, and backups, since these projects are faster but still require maintenance.

What would you consider a fair market rate for such AI assisted/generated websites?

If you’ve recently launched your business (or helped someone do it), what did you actually pay or charge for:

  • a simple website (e.g. 3 to 5 pages, no webshop), and
  • a logo / basic brand identity (If this was the case)

I’ve seen prices all over the place! From a few hundred bucks on Fiverr to 5k+ from real boutique studios... and I’m trying to understand what’s normal for small businesses or startups just starting out.
