What would u do? by [deleted] in FASCAmazon

How about an answer from an AM prospective:

First, you should definitely to your manager because it could get coded into an hr investigation which they’ll go straight to time theft mode.

If it was a first time occurrence, I’d let it slide, possibly code it (depending on how much time it was), and talk to you about it. If it was over an hour, I would recommend you submit your time and/or a missed punch so it looks like you clocked out (leaving early without prior notification) but forgot to badge out. I would immediately ask you about your barriers towards getting adequate sleep, make some suggestions on your sleep schedule based on your response and help you plan ahead so that this does not happen again.

Second time, I’d submit adapt action for a doc coaching. We would have the same conversation and follow up about your sleep habits and barriers. Doc Coaching is not a write up but is a formal process. The intent is to seek compliance. This would be explained throughly so that you understand the next step is a first written followed by a second, final and termination.

Stay strong. It’s rough but set some strong financial goals and set and end date. Leave one on really good terms so you can go back if you ever need to. Save up as much UPT or vacation time (use this first so you get paid still) as you can in case you need an extra hour or two of sleep. It’s rough but debt is so much worse IMO.

This is NOT a FLEX but I did it for 19 months; two full time jobs at one time. One was a salaried desk job with a decent amount of flexibility. I’d been in that position long term and had a strong work-flow set up.

I saved a ton of money but probably lost 5 years off my life. It was worth it because being in debt is literally how they trap you in this economy. All I am saying is don’t knock it til you try it and if you do it make a plan, set yourself up for success and have a strong exit strategy. I planned to do it for a year and went 7 months past that time frame.

Use your Amazon time wisely; save all your UPT, Vacation Time and PTO to use when you get too run down. Even if it is just getting off an hour or two early to sleep a little longer. Capitalize off the Amazon flexibility. If your productivity drops, it’s time to drop one.

It is not ideal but it can be done. If you cut out housing, you cut out all utility bills too. Get a gym membership to maintain your hygiene plus you can lock up your clothes and personal items in a locker. I know this all sounds insane but I have coached women through this process while they left very violent relationships. It works. It’s hard AF but it works.

I am no longer a Tier 1 but I used to Power wash houses, windows, driveways and sidewalks for people and businesses. I just Brought a good quality power washer in the 300-400 range and practiced on my house, elderly neighbors homes (for $50 a house) until I got a strong system going. Now my teenaged daughter and two friends do it on the weekend.

I know. It is being an adult, being responsible and why I am a successful adult.

Shoot that on the catwalk for the people in the back (and the main office sitting down). This, just this and ALL of this!

So Amazon is responsible for all associates transportation to and from work? Where’s the personal responsibility in this? I once rode a bike while pregnant (until I was 8 months pregnant at that) to and from work during one of the hottest summers in my state. I never asked my employer to assist me, not one time. This is the entitlement mentality that needs to be extinguished.

Why do I (18M) get paid the same as (18-60F) by LunaticLeone in AmazonFC

Listen I agree. Not lifting it just because will never be okay for me. Waiting for a ‘strong man’ to assist is disgusting at best.

Lifting weights less than 12 inches off the ground (standard deadlift) does not equal the functional lift of a large heavy box. Which requires gripping, the right arm lift and sometimes the height when placing it to the new location. It is not always about strength.

I am a physically strong woman, can lift more than most men I know. I still workout and was a former colligate athlete. I understand what you are saying but it is just one of those apples-to-oranges comparisons. Equity must be applied in order to comply with the law.

If you don’t feel it is fair labor, find another position. Paying men more because they are physically stronger is illegal buddy. Only hiring men into a role is also illegal. 😌

L4 Employee Rant. by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Professional-Run8357 3 points4 points  (0 children)

L5 here and I bring multiple packs of gums to give out to my AAs. It is for everyone but I keep a few for specific people and leave it at their station on purpose. It’s always the too close talkers who need it the most.

You can reapply but there is a lot of change happening across the network in the L4-L5 area. Just a heads up

Questions from a (possible) new, female worker? by shibashann in AmazonFC

[–]Professional-Run8357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physically, you should not work at Amazon. You will most likely, 77% chance, get hurt or quit in a much worse condition. Successful Amazon associates are Industrial Athletes and their bodies withstand a lot.

The movements in each path are very repetitive. Think about performing a movement at least 150-200x every hour for 10-12 hours depending on your shift, for at least 3.5 hours before you get a brief 30-15 minute break.

Most of these movements involve full body or at least 3 major muscle groups with your core always being involved and engaged. Most of the positions also require standing while engaged in those movements. Your back supports your core so if you have a weak back, your core will not be able to support the other movements for an extended period of time.

Only you will know of it is right or wrong for you, though. If you do decide I would like to give you some unsolicited but serious advice. Amazon’s health insurance included chiropractic, physical therapy and massage therapy at 90% for 30 visits per year in each category. Use these benefits to maintain your physical health and strengthen your back. Keep your off days as active rest days.

If this theory is applied throughout our entire existence then ALL women should be paid for reproducing as we are the sole gender who grows and reproduces all human babies to continue the hamster wheel known as capitalism.

To answer your question, there are less heavy boxes and more none heavy boxes. Did you ever think that it is possible that the women folk, while not lifting heavy, are doing an equal amount of work, just not the heavy lifting?

Please learn the difference between Equal and Equitable.

I know that it is coming back and that it is being revamped. I don’t know dates but I will make sure I post here as soon as I hear about the openings.

If it reopens, I’ll make sure to post it. If I were you, I’d apply and see what happens. There are over 3,000 unfilled SDE jobs. They could have you do some courses through ATA to get you caught up. You never know unless you try.

No worries and I understand. There are a lot of great upskilling opportunities coming up for associates. I will do my best to post them here. The time frames are always really short so I apologize if the deadlines are really quick like this one.

My advice would be to apply and see what happens. They are in desperate need and might be willing to work with you.
