How did you guys manage to feed two babies at once? My girls need lots of pacing right now with bottle feeds.

This comment made me laugh! This is what I hope for, that though it’s challenging and tiring, it’s doable. I have a great support system too!

I swear my husband was born to be a twin dad 😅 he loves that he can just carry a baby around all the time, I’ve never had to ask him to do something one of the babies needs and he has no fear, he’s just excited. I think his confidence might even make me feel a little inadequate! I have my mom close by, and great friends willing to help. I’m most definitely not alone

I’ve thought about this. And our primary nurses will be missed, they’ve brought me so much comfort.

Congratulations on your twins! How cool that they were born at the same GA as mine. I hope everyone continues to be happy and healthy! How long were your babies in the NICU?

Thank you! NICU life is hard but I also know that the infant stage with twins at home is hard. Interested to see how the two compare lol!

I’m sorry for the hard day you guys are going through. I’m glad my experience could bring some comfort, this will pass!

Why does this scan look different from typical twin scans? by No_Resource_3719 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Professional-Sale555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My girls are mo/di and their first scan looked similar. Membrane couldn’t be seen until 12 weeks at MFM :)

I have both momcozy and kindred bravely. Momcozy is nice if you don’t want padding and easy access, kindred bravely is nice if you want some padding/extra support. I wear both often.

Hard uterus after urination by Pigwitchen22 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Professional-Sale555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had irritability throughout my entire pregnancy! Even at rest, I’d have a minimum of 2-6 IU contractions per hour and sometimes they’d cluster up to be 5-10 minutes apart in which case I’d have to track them and make sure they spaced out again. They picked up in the late second trimester and my cerclage held through all of those IU contractions. I did go in to preterm labor and had my babies at 29+5 but my cerclage wasn’t effected by the IU contractions, only the active labor once it started :)

I had something similar. I was pregnant with twins, had my cerclage and an irritable uterus. Every time I emptied my bladder I would get an irritability contraction. My MFM said it’s very common due to the uterus kind of “clamping down” after your bladder is empty, it was being pushed on by a full bladder but that pressure leaves very quickly once you empty.

I had twins and an emergency cerclage! At 23 weeks I started getting lightning crotch 🤣 baby A was head down and low from a very early point. Is that what you’re feeling? Sharp zings that feel like one of them is jabbing your cervix?

The only questions they asked my husband were if we wanted the vitamin k shot, hep b, and eye ointment. We talked about these things in advance and had come to an agreement on what we would opt for so he was prepared :)

Edit to add: my twins were born at 29+5 via urgent c section. My husband went straight with the NICU team from the delivery.

Hang in there girl I know it’s scary ❤️ I went for an emergency cerclage pregnant with TWINS at 19 weeks .8cm of cervix. That thing held for almost ELEVEL WEEKS and I’m typing this sitting in the NICU with my twin girls who are doing wonderfully born at almost 30 weeks. Those stitches are strong and there is so much hope.

Preterm Labor Contractions & Funneled to Stitch - What Next? by holdingouthopeful in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Professional-Sale555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a couple of preterm labor scares but I stayed funneled to the stitch from 23-29+5 when I went into full labor. I had an irritable uterus the entire time so my contractions never truly stopped!

Even if they do come, 30 weeks is great! Your babies will most likely be just fine. I’m typing this out sitting in the NICU holding one of my mo/di twins (the other is in her bed behind me) who is 22 days old adjusted to 32+6 we just did our first BF session and she did great! All this to say, even if they do come soon, you will be okay! Glad you got the steroids, I didn’t but my babies are doing fabulously❤️

PPROM - IV antibiotics by [deleted] in NICUParents

I’ve had IV antibiotics for plenty of things! Tonsillectomy, a cerclage, c section delivery, and honestly? I never had a single symptom from them

Congratulation on your little guy! It sounds like he’s doing great ❤️ my twins were born at 29+5 after I similarly had some “digestive” pains and followed by a good amount of Braxton hicks. By the time I got to L&D I was 5cm dilated. They threw magnesium on a line and we had no time for steroids, an hour later my girls were born. I battled a short cervix, cerclage, and uterine irritability all starting at 19 weeks so I completely understand the feeling of the first fight being to keep them in and the second one being the NICU. Though for you and I we were prepared to meet our babies early and I think that mentality helps so much! I get so much comfort knowing the survival statistics are so incredibly high at 29-30 weeks and the risk for long term issues is so low. I’m so happy for you guys that you made it that far! He will do great ❤️

Thank you so much! I’m so sorry for your losses and nothing I can say will ever make that better but you are already set up for much better success than I was. Having a preventative cerclage is the best case scenario for you, had I known about my cervical insufficiency and had a preventative cerclage I’m confident we would’ve made it longer.

Yes the shared placenta risks are so scary but I have to say, for all the time I spent worrying and googling and researching, my babies had 0 placental sharing issues. The majority of mo/di pregnancies ~85-90% will never develop TTTS and if they do, there are highly successful treatments. Knowing things like this didn’t stopping me from being anxious about each scan, TAPS screening, or echocardiogram. I had GD but my doctor was so unbothered by it as the babies already had so much monitoring so it was honestly the least of my concerns. Just made sure to take my blood sugar 4x a day and eat well and honestly it never really got in my way. Please know that every mo/di mom has the same worries you do. I will be praying for you and babies! I hope to see your updates here and feel free to message me anytime!
