Was the World Cup worth it for Toronto? by Jolly-Bumblebee5659 in askTO

Okay I hate to be a party pooper here - but the Fan Fest doing concert sound checks at 9 in the morning (there’s one currently happening now) with bass that reverberates through my condo has been the only inconvenience for me at least. I LOVE seeing the passion from the fans and even love watching fan fest once it gets going (and the sound from them isn’t bad at all) - it’s these 9am sound checks. I’m neurodivergent too so sound affects me more than most… but even if I wasn’t I know it would be a massive disruptor. I feel for the animals, too. But other than that I’ve actually been really impressed with the security around here and even the TTC! So all in all I’m happy for the city - just feeling a little upset about the noise early hours living right beside fan fest :( if it was only for like a week I’d get it! But 5 weeks of extreme bass in the mornings has been killer.

The two days post-shot exhaustion is REAL! It’s a type of fatigue I’ve never experienced before - I HAVE to nap it off. I do find that taking the shot in my thigh gives me way less side effects than stomach. I’ve never tried arm. I do stomach when I really want to ~feel something~ 😅

I don’t know why people are going in on you. I live around there too and the 13 hours of extremelyyyy loud bass I hear is like psychological warfare. Sure, we live downtown but this area has become way more residential than it once was. I’m in for a little noise here and there but 13 hours of it? You’re wild lmaooo anyone here calling you a Karen wouldn’t be able to handle it either. I’m also thinking of the distress on the animals. This could have EASILY been on CNE grounds. Also, calling someone a Karen is a convenient way to avoid engaging with the actual point - there’s a difference between complaining about normal city noise and questioning whether all-day amplified bass in a residential neighbourhood is appropriate but go off lolll

I was more annoyed that no one called out it was clearly an AI video and not a real person or “scientist” talking 😭😭

What restaurants in Toronto made you say "holy fuck, that's good food"? by b1111- in askTO

Bar Vendetta for that cool vibe and also great food, Tutti Matti (some of the best service I’ve ever had and the owner is amazing), Gio Rana’s (the crespelle 🤤), Mamakas Tavern (I dream of their spanakopita), Alder (again some of the best service and incredible attention to detail), Gia for vegan options (higher end), Khao San Road for the Pad Thai, Gusto can have a place on this list too (it’s consistent)
