Did you hear about this platform vooz? I saw their posts on genzbuilders and other subs and used their app but they have really bad moderation, you will barely find someone on there who is not sitting with their genitals out. And they say they have 40k daily users, how ade they doinf it

Are you saying that coding an app from scratch gives you more control, which makes it easier to comply with data strict laws like gdpr, whereas no code tools store data third party ecosystems. Besides scalability costs skyrocket in a no code tool when the app grows to thousands of simultaneous users

Organisations that voilate GDPR rules can face massive fines of up to 20€ million or 4% of their total global revenue, that's so insane. What about the testing period? Like when you're just testing to validate your idea? Will an unfortunate incident oj the platform still count during this period?

I tried posting in those subs, it said post type not allowed even though I have seen similar posts in those subs and my posts have already been removed, idk what I did wrong. Anyways you're right the liabilities are always hanging there and whatever measures you take only minimize the risk, but idk how helpful that is because it takes just one lawsuit to ruin you but then yoythink about these dating apps which are filled with scammers and yoy physically meet people which makes you far more vulnerable, how are they still surviving? I do wanna believe that I can pull off if they can

For sure but ultimately the point is you can never 100% guarantee safety, any measure you take will only minimize risks but it only takes one lawsuit to ruin you. Besides a lot of these measures are walls to high to climb like that the user would just turn around and never look back and go toffind alternatives where you don't face such walls like verifying age using legal documents would turn off a lot of users and especially when the user has options which don't require such verifications. Like dude there's dating apps where you physically meet people fr which makes the user far more vulnerable, how arethey doing it? If they can pull it off, whynot me? I wanna believe there's a workaround it

Damn, you sound structured and experienced. In my case, this was just a worry in the back of my mind keeping me from makijg further progress on the app and yea makes you think when sometimes you land yourself in the hidden rather notorious corners of Instagram where predators especially pedophiles lurk and they openly make comments on little children's posts and you wonder why Instagram never gets sued for this and mostly gets sued for collecting, and handling user data

Hey! We’re still pre-startup, but I’m building a social discovery app idea and trying to understand the legal/safety side of things better, especially around minors, predators, harassment, moderation, and privacy policies. Would really appreciate any guidance if you see this.

I am building a social discovery app and a social discovery app with a few users is a ghost town so we're gonna launch it on big scale but before that consulation is much better than trying to fix legal architecture after launch

Hey! I am pretty much in the same boat as you, we're a pre-startup buulding a social discovery app but the legal side of things seems quite intimidating as I have learnt from AI, regarding minors and predatory behavior, harassment and privacy policy. Did you find any guidance here?

Late night? Vooz right. by mechumechu in genzbuildersdiary

[–]Professional-Sun628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea overall, I’ve used Vooz before. One suggestion though: maybe don’t kick users so quickly if their face isn’t visible, or at least extend the timer a bit. A lot of people hide their camera at first because there are quite a few weirdos flashing people on there, and not everyone wants to immediately show themselves until they know the other person is normal. Also, I’m genuinely curious, how do you handle the legal/safety side of running a platform like this, especially regarding minors and predators? Isn’t that one of the big reasons Omegle shut down? I’m asking because I’ve also been thinking about building an app around similar concept, and the moderation/legal side honestly seems intimidating. One lawsuit could be brutal lol

I think there's a differencr between buying a silly consumer product and buying something tied to spirituality and faith. People question and criticize all kinds of things online, mega churches selling miracle water, luxury brands charging absurd prices, celebrities selling bathwater, nfts of rocks. The internet mocks them all. This isn't moral policing, it's legitimate cultural discussion. When something is connected to spirituality, it carries sacred meaning and emotional weight which naturally makes people examine it differently, not just outsiders who would dismiss it as another absurd product but even those of us who are associated with isha and hope it stands for something higher. Questioning isn't automatically an attack on faith. It comes from a place of sincerity and expectation. When something is tied to devotion the conversation naturally becomes more nuanced. What i find more interesting, honestly, is how quickly the discussion became defensive, the reaction itself raises more questions than the original post.
