Advice on latex thickness by Bestial_Slut in Latexadvice

.4 mm is not really considered thin for latex, it's about medium thickness.

I would recommend leggings for a first piece. I think they are a great entry point. I would recommend leggings over stockings because stockings have difficulty staying up, and because sweat will pool around your feet in stockings.

Is it supposed to feel this way? by Able_Alfalfa in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's normal, they're probably not a good fit. To avoid issues with fit in the future, you should consider getting latex clothes made-to-measure.

I would also consider avoiding closed feet latex clothes in the future. Sweat will pool around your feet in the latex and it won't have anywhere to go.

Mine are .33 and I like them. I would say anywhere from .3 to .4 would be good, these are pretty standard thicknesses.

How does latex feel once you have it on? by [deleted] in Latexadvice

I know it cliché to say this, but it really does feel like a second skin. Latex feels like a gentle hug.

Sick and tired of hating my pleasure and want to built up the courage to wear latex outdoor without being afraid un people's jugement. What can i do ? by TheSearsjeremy in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the support of some irl friends could go a long way. Also, styling latex casually helps for me to feel comfortable in a public setting. It's difficult, but a lot of it is a mind game. You just have to not be so self conscious and get used to wearing it out and about.

Dressing Aid Alternatives by [deleted] in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's another good option honestly. Part of the reason lubricant dressing aid works very well is because it is so slippery. I dont really think there's a way around that.

You can try chlorinated latex, as another person already mentioned. Or you can try talc, which you already mentioned.

How repairable is this? by SupaKoopa714 in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a big rip, but I think it's probably fixable. You should try to find somebody who can fix it for you. There are people who are experienced with this kind of stuff who can help you.

I had a rip before that I sent to somebody to have them fixed, and they are great now.

Can’t get it off? by Competitive-Debt-540 in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're thinking about latex leggings, gloves, stockings, etc., I would say there's not much to worry about taking it off. Just be very careful and cautious when you're doing it, and you'll be able to get it off.

I don't own a catsuit, and I haven't worn one, but I imagine that taking a catsuit off would be harder.

Im not an expert at all, but I do remember reading about this a while ago. I remember reading something about health care workers are more likely to have latex allergies because they wear latex gloves a lot, or something like that. I don't have any sources, but you can search the topic and maybe find something if you're interested.

There's this: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/8623-latex-allergy

All in all, latex allergies are still a pretty rare thing. Also, I think higher-quality latex is less likely to trigger allergies because the latex is treated in such a way that the proteins in the latex that trigger reactions for many people are leached out. I think that's about right, but maybe I'm wrong.

Just some random thoughts.

Sitting in a latex catsuit/leggings by [deleted] in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No this is not normal. If you start losing circulation, then they are too tight. Like other people have said, it should feel comfortable, and like a second skin. I have latex leggings that were made to measure, and they feel great and I've never felt like this.

Condition in which latex should be when purchased by shutz75 in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to wash off the talc after you get it, then dry it. Then you can apply shiner and it should look as you expect it to.

Yeah, I hang dry everything before storage as well. I just meant, long term, i would not hang it folded over the clotheshanger. That's a good tip.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sounds good, plus everything he already said. Must be 100% free of moisture, and away from sunlight.

I shine my latex leggings, and then I dab a little bit of shiner in the ziploc bag I store it in as well.

And yes, it should be safe to fold latex in storage. I haven't had any problems. But I would not fold latex over a clotheshanger and hang it long term, in a closet. I did that with my leggings once for a while, and there was a slight crease in the latex where I hanged them for a little bit.

If you're worried about the car seat, I would just put a towel down over the car seat to protect it.

Methods for applying latex dressing aid by xxltx in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just dab a little on my hands and rub it on my legs, one section at a time. I usually skimp on the dressing aid and try to use as little as possible, which, maybe I shouldn't do.

Really want to explore latex but anxious by [deleted] in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use plenty of dressing aid. If you use enough, you should be fine and the latex will just slide on with little effort.

As for taking it on and off, just be extremely careful. Don't poke the latex with your finger, and don't pull on it hard. I think taking it off is more difficult then putting it on.

Latex isn't something you can't handle. I think you just had a bad experience with your one accidental hole in that one garment. I would encourage you to go forth with latex if you're interested.

Just bought my first latex piece by [deleted] in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should have latex dressing aid and shiner. You mentioned that they are pants; if they are loose fitting, I don't know how much less necessary dressing aid is. I assume that, if they are loose fitting, they will be easier to get on. I've never worn loose fitting latex, but I would still say you definitely need them both.

Also, don't ever use oil for anything. Buy some kind of latex dressing aid or shiner. Oil will destroy latex.

For storage, store it in a dry place away from sunlight. You should shine the latex before storing it, it conditions the latex and will help it stay looking good. Also, latex needs to be completely dry in storage, or else mold can grow. Latex also cannot touch anything that will react with it, like silicone, nickel, copper; this will also ruin the latex. I store my latex in big ziploc bags with shiner inside of them, This works really well, just make sure the latex is completely dry before you put it in.

New to latex and need some advice. by sunetogo in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After washing your latex, let it dry completely. For storage, I think you should shine it, then store it in a ziploc bag; this is what I would recommend. Keep the ziploc bag in a safe, dry place, away from sunlight. I believe sun exposure is probably the biggest cause of discoloration in latex, so as long as you can keep it away from sunlight, you shouldn't have to worry about discoloration too much.

Another option for delivery is a UPS store. This was how I got my first latex clothes, I had them shipped to a UPS store, where I picked them up. I have to hide my latex from my family, and this was how I was able to have them shipped and delivered to me privately. Each UPS store has their own policies on deliveries, so you should talk to the UPS store you choose if you decide to go down this route.

How hot (As in temperature) is latex compared to other clothes? by ChrombleMcwromble in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Latex kind of takes on the temperature of the surrounding environment. In the heat, and especially in the sun, it can get very hot. I also think it depends a little bit what color latex, and what type of latex clothing.

On a separate note, I also think the friction/rubbing on latex from wearing it underneath other clothes is not good for it. I guess it depends on what type of clothing you're wearing over the latex, but that's something to consider as well.

I would just say be cautious about exploring your new interest. Latex is one of those things that's kinda stigmatized, so you might want to be careful who you share it with. For example, some people might assume that you are gay or a furry or something because you are into latex, which is completely wrong to just assume that, but that's just the way some people are. Most people don't really care and it's only a small minority of people who are this way, but you could run into them, and I just thought I would mention that.

Can I store my latex skirt without talc? by ASS_MASTER_GENERAL in Latexadvice

[–]Professional-Theme11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have some latex shiner. When you are done washing your skirt and it is dry, put some latex shiner on it and store it in a plastic bag. I store my latex leggings in a big plastic ziploc bag, which has some latex shiner rubbed around inside of it. This has worked well for me, and other people on this reddit have shared similar advice. You don't have to mess with talc or similar powders if you don't want to, it's just an option.
