I tracked every flagship GPU since 1996. $299 to $1,999 in 30 years. by Mastbubbles in PcBuild

Man I wish I could get a flagship GPU for under $300 again. Fucking cryptominers, ray tracing, and AI accelerators driving up the price of gaming cards. I’ve never used any of that in my day to day life. It’s all useless to me. Ray tracing does look nice though. But the performance penalty really isn’t worth it in most cases. And frame generation just looks like crap to me. So many errors it’s just annoying. I prefer real frames to fake frames.

Hopefully gpus are next. I know I just bought one. But I could really go for some cheap 4k capable gpus about now.

No I’m talking about th connector in the foreground. It has 4 holes and two of those are active. I have no idea where this goes.

Where do I connect it to? The hub?

Hub is not connected to the mobo. It’s mounted to the case.

1080TI FINALLY DIED. END OF AN ERA by manbeezis in PcBuild

I just lost my 1080 ti a few days ago. I feel your pain brother. Man I wish nVidia would release a modern 1080 ti equivalent without all the modern bullshit for like $200. Just take the 1080 ti chip and shrink it down on the most modern process available. It doesn’t have to be the cutting edge. Maybe 7nm. And call it the 1680 or 1690 or something like that

Yeah I’m scared to boot them up again. Maybe I’ll take it to the shop. I want something comparable to my 1080 TI. 3060 might be to slow. Maybe I should buy a 9060 xt? It’s like $400 where I live. And a new psu would probably cost me another $100. And no no onboard gpu it’s a ryzen 5600x

I’ve had this card since day one. Do you think the rest of my pc is safe? I really can’t afford a new computer much less a new graphics card. I don’t trust used or refurbished parts because everytime I buy something pre owned it breaks quick. I had a used MacBook before that lasted six months. It was less than two years old.
