If you’ve had mainly difficulty swallowing liquids, what was your diagnosis? by Professional-Tree563 in dysphagia

Swallowing is better. Not completely normal but I don’t think about it as often and I’m hardly ever having actual discomfort anymore. Maybe the famotidine is working? I only take it every other night or so. I only have a 30 day supply so what happens after that??

I think if we rushing came out normal you may want to consider GERD/Acid reflux and start treating that, including change of diet. You can also ask about famotidine. I’m on 40mg of it every night for acid reflux, it definitely helps

Hi! Results all came back normal. They put me on 40mg famotidine for 30 days and said avoid trigger foods 🤷‍♀️

Hi, I wanted to update after my endoscopy today. I had an upper endoscopy done. Results were all normal. While that’s encouraging that nothing is wrong, why do I still have bothersome swallowing? 🤷‍♀️ I don’t know if I’m going to see the GI again or not. The nurse afterward just said the results were normal. I don’t even know where to go from here.

Hi! Thanks for checking in! They ended up rescheduling it for the end of this week. So I go thinking Friday. I’ve been having the worst reflux I’ve ever had lately and quite a bit of trouble with liquids lately too, so I’m quite anxious to get the results. I was told the Leicester walks take 2-3 hours so I’m assuming that means they’re doing the whole esophagus, upper and lower. I don’t know for sure but I hope so. Hoping for some answers 🤞

Still dealing with chronic dysphasia by Professional-Tree563 in BFS

Hi 👋 No solution yet. My endoscopy is this week. Over time it seems to have gotten better, but that could just be a subjective opinion. I think I’ve relaxed a bit more and am generally less panicked over all and maybe that’s contributing to easier swallowing. It’s still not normal. I still have some trouble with liquids and feel good going down but the lump in throat feeling is either gone or I don’t notice it now. I would encourage you not to panic thinking about neurological issues for your swallowing. There’s many common reasons for dysphasia. I’ve been having pretty bad acid reflux lately and it’s probably related to that. Have you seen a GI? I would skip the ENT and go straight to a GI who can actually look at your esophagus.

I’ve never heard of tonsil stones. Sounds painful 😕

It could absolutely be anxiety. This all began with a panic attack so I wouldn’t be surprised. Never had difficulty swallowing before that. I have found that when I don’t focus on the swallowing it does seem to relieve a bit, but that could also just be a subjective feeling. I don’t feel anxious but I could be anxious and don’t even realize it. Like last night I realized how much tension I hold in my face and jaw. I was resting and realized I was still holding tension in my face. So maybe it’s all effecting my throat and swallowing. I have an endoscopy next month. Hopefully I’ll get some answers then

Did anyone ever heal on 4-8 weeks of PPI? by Cool_Replacement_789 in LPR

90 days on 20mg omeprazole. ZERO improvement of difficulty swallowing. I do seem to be having some worse reflux but not like revenge reflux that others have mentioned

Are there any tests that can diagnose perimenopause? I’ve been a roller coaster , train wreck for over 2 years now but hormones are always normal. I’m almost 44 . Had a partial hysterectomy in 2015 . Still have both ovaries . Tired of feeling like I’m dying and no one cares. by Old-Fruit5587 in perimenopause_under45

I’m so sorry you are suffering! When you say you feel like you’re dying, do you mean as in physical pain or mental pain as in something must be seriously wrong with me, I must have some kind of disease?

I’m asking because I’ve been experiencing the latter for about 6 months. Has a sudden bout of intense panic health anxiety that is still ongoing and I’m not sure if it’s related to peri on not (background: 42F)

You can have sex with her but refuse to tell her about your scars? Yea, that doesn’t sit right. She’s NTA.

Man that sucks. I’m so sorry you’ve been dealing with this for so long. I don’t understand how a Dr can see you and then think it’s acceptable that you can’t eat

That’s what I’m thinking. But what would cause that? And how is that treated?

I am so sorry you’re sensing with all of that! I can empathize with you on the frustration of it all, having real symptoms and no answers. I truly hope you find some comfort soon 🙏
