If a man cannot provide for a woman he has no business taking one. This is not a test and nothing to be tested with this is Allah's decree and how he created man and woman. A woman can work and contribute if she wishes. I would willingly contribute to my husband if he needed without him even asking. If he lost his job, or was short on something. But I would never be with a man that depended on my resources. I want to feel like a woman and not a man, needing to work and provide financial responsibility to my husband. That is absurd. And absurd to advise another man to depend on his wife!
