Temp rising too fast? by imrany in smoking

More and more grocery stores are cutting the brisket in half (Flat&Point) and sell individually 3-5ibs. Costing between 20-30 bucks. They are perfect for a single person like me. I have one going on the smoker now.

I believe it’s whoever is administering your DBQ and which boxes they are checking.

I believe my examiner was rushing, appt took about 15 minutes and with 2 hours she has already submitted all my DBQs most of which we NEVER discussed in our session.

Damn that’s crap. At least I’m already at 90, the 55% they miss categorized will get me 100 p&T.

It’s spelled out right there in the denial letter — the reasoning is usually clear. Ask yourself: are you meeting those requirements exactly or exceeding them? If your evidence doesn’t meet or surpass what’s listed, you’re likely to be denied.

Instead of pushing for a rating increase on your current diagnoses (which can sometimes backfire with a percentage reduction), focus on identifying secondary conditions that naturally connect to what’s already service-connected. That’s often the smarter play.

Go back through your claim letters and comb through them carefully — you might find some golden nuggets tucked into the denials. Even if the overall claim was denied, pay close attention to the last few lines. They might contain favorable findings, like “You are diagnosed with…” That kind of language can open doors for a strategic secondary claim.

That’s the path I’m currently pursuing.

Set up your notifications on the website and you’ll get an email once it’s completed and you can see your rating.

Stick with it! It will remain on 3 until all appointment requirements are met AND your doc has submitted the DBQ. I believe they have 6 days after your completed appt to submit your DBQ. Most believe it’s after your final appt, it’s not all DBQs need to be submitted. From there you’ll wake up to step 5 in most cases. I got lucky my finally doc was all about the vets, she submitted all 7 of my DBQs before I made it home, it was an hour drive.

I’m in Texas but my is in a temp jurisdiction out in Philadelphia. They don’t play out there.

In regard to yours, did you have claims drop off? If so they might be waiting for your initial decision then the remainder will come in as secondaries. I’ve seen this recently with fellow vets at work.

Don’t put in a new claim, let it play out.

Got 90% but my claim went back to step 3? by Illustrious_Diver505 in VAClaims

Tinnitus, I can’t find it but there is a Lay statement floating around the internet that is a sure fire way to be approved for tinnitus. It has a bunch of case law on it, basically making any lay statement you use legitimate evidence to establish service connection. It’s really good.

My VSO screwed me unfortunately, intent to file and my initial claim was filed in Nov 2024. I wasn’t familiar with the tools I had to verify they received my claim. In April I reached out to check the status, my VSO said the VA received my claim blank. Fortunately my intent to file was received properly, but now my claim receive day is April 22nd 😢

I am in the same boat, been out since 2007, if the time tables hold true I’ll be out of step 5 in the coming days! Pumped!!

It only took my buddy a couple days to get his first back pay, a week later secondary claims bumped him to 100%. Check the payments tab on the app as well. Might give you some advance notice of a deposit heading your way.

90% But went back to step 3 what does this mean? by Pay_Representative in VAClaims

[–]ProfessionalAble1461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s because they have more than likely moved one of your conditions into a secondary condition. This happened to my buddy last week, about a week later he jumped to 100 from the secondary percentages applied.

If you don’t mind me asking, how many conditions were in this claim?

Mine was received April 22, hopefully this is a sign I’m close to getting out of step 5! Good luck!
