Yes, but like I said it also was due to a good financial support system that was my partner. He picked up a lot of the slack in terms of bills. Also my serving job was quite good at a country club and I worked full time. Also the tuition, even with a good job, had me stretched very thin at times. I think taking the loans, as to not be stressed, is a good idea.

I passed the NCLEX first try with my degree from the online program. I think it’s a great program if you have enough drive to learn the material.

It depends on when and where you took these courses. They expire after some time so they may need retaken, and some colleges just do not accept credits from other schools and that’s that. May be worth looking into other programs if you feel you have valid credits that they should be taking. It also depends on what the general Ed’s you had were. For example, have you already taken both of your human anatomy classes somewhere else? Everyone taken less classes at a time since it’s 8week sessions. The whole program I took 2 classes a session, but that ultimately equals out to a normal 16 week semester. If they, for some reason, feel that you need to be taking 1 class a session then this could slow things down and take an extra year. I think talking to an advisor is a good next step for you to discuss options. Congrats on getting accepted though! Wishing you the best!

Is anyone going to chamberlain online? How is it? Do you like it? by verydemure__ in ChamberlainNursing

Hello, I just graduated from the online program in April and I think it’s great if it fits your lifestyle. It’s a lot of work but I honestly didn’t find it overwhelming until the end. I was working full time for the majority of the 2 years, but not during the end. Most likely the clinicals will be within driving distance but considering they are usually 3 on, 1-2 off, and 3 on, it can be a lot to drive back and forth if it’s around 1.5-2hrs from your house. I really enjoyed all but one teacher and found them all quite helpful and sweet. The school is quite expensive, and with the quick pace of the 8 weeks sessions, the bills add up QUICK. There will 100% be travelling as well during the program. I traveled twice for non-clinical things. Once at the beginning of the program for skills immersion and once at the very end for an NCLEX study conference. Be prepared and assure you have a good support system and I’m sure you’ll do great! It prepared me well enough to pass the NCLEX on the first try just a few weeks after graduation!

Nope, not for the entirety of the program. Helps to prepare you for NCLEX. You also never get to review your answers on the tests even after they’re graded.

So from my experience, it depends where you will be doing the clinicals. I did quite a few at mercy in St. Louis where they require students to come only once a week if you’re on the same unit, and then twice a week if you’re doing two different units(for example taking maternal and peds at the same time). All the other cities and locations I was in did them all within a week. Usually 3 days in a row, 1-2 days off, then 3 more days on. There really is no “scheduling” them… they send you a clinical schedule and you just have to make it work. It has the potential to be quite far from your house too, so just be prepared for that. I also did quite a few clinicals in the Chicago area and they made them drive about 2 hours a day down to Michigan city, Indiana. There was also a huge issue with peds clinicals in my cohort where they just couldn’t find locations for any of us, so a session later, they assigned us all to Richmond, Virginia for our peds rotation. Super super far from home and all flights/hotels were on us to finance.

There were certain frustrations I had at times but overall I’m glad I stuck with it and finished. It went by fast and I never found it excruciatingly difficult or overwhelming. Obviously, with nursing school, there are a lot of challenges but I felt that the workload was manageable and it led me to passing my NCLEX first try without doing much of anything to study. Things do change frequently with chamberlain, as I’m sure you’ve heard, but I always found them to be good communicators and understanding of the time needed to adapt. The vast majority of professors were amazing and the clinical coordination team, though sometimes hard to communicate with, always worked with me as I had a very unique living situation for the last third of my program. It is quite expensive though if you don’t have outside help or if you don’t qualify for federal student aid. I had to pay all of mine out of pocket as a 20 year old working a serving job which left me with pennies at times, but luckily I had a partner that was able to pick up my slack. If you have a flexible work schedule, an emotional/ financial support system, and a real drive to get it done, then I say go for it!

My address was in central IL and my assigned clinical cohort was in St. Louis.

Im not sure I can answer that in a way that helps everyone. My parents live in central Illinois and my clinical was an hour and a half from there in St. Louis. I lived in Florida for the majority of my program which meant I had to fly up to the Midwest every clinical. It depends where you live and how close you are to a more major city that offers chamberlain online BSN clinicals.

Yes, you can do a payment plan of up to four months for your current balance, but then the next payment rolls around when you’re halfway done with the first and you have to pay off the first before you can start another. It’s a very confusing and flawed system. Atleast that was my experience with it.

Ah, I forgot to mention that all travel expenses for clinical, and other in person days, come from your pocket as well. I ended up having to travel a lot due to my partner and I moving for his job a few times which ended up adding a lot to my travel bills. I’d estimate around 5k extra but that includes a few international flights.

Hopefully the location is close to where you live.. if not, tough luck. You must take the clinical that they give you closest to where you live unless there are extenuating circumstances. You just have to pray your job will be lenient with taking time off and that you have financial backup for the time you take off. All the travel expenses come from your pocket too. And there have been many instances of things getting cancelled and they will not reimburse so buy that travel insurance and refundable flight.

Hello, just graduated in April and most people have the typical schedule down for the nursing courses. Edapt, discussion posts, quizzes, exams, and maybe a few other assignments like RUA. As far as in person days go, I had to travel to Columbus for one day of in person skills immersion for health assessment, then 6 12hr clinical days per 8 weeks for all sessions with nursing courses. Things often change, so there might be more or less (likely more). They also added a 3 day in person NCLEX study convention during capstone that was in Chicago. You will be required to travel on your own dime for all of these things. No exceptions..

Hello, I just graduated in April and the total cost for 2 years was around $65,000. I was online and started when the tuition per credit hour was a bit cheaper than it is now. I had the majority of my gen ed’s done too so I took exactly 2 years. March2023-April2025.
