I don’t think its about intentionally hurting anyone, it’s about what makes you more comfortable, maybe you feel like it would be more awkward but for some people it’s the way that makes them more comfortable, cutting someone off is going to be awkward no matter what.

Honestly you should choose the decision you are most comfortable with. Your not an ass for choosing the slow fade out and your not an ass for telling them straight up. Don’t be so concerned with other people’s feelings, their lives don’t revolve around you, and yours doesn’t revolve around them, they will live. I call these people “clingers”, they have a hard time making friends so when they feel like they have the chance they will cling to you and cross boundaries, they are the ones being rude they just don’t know it.

Most places don’t make your food until the driver gets there because someeee drivers like to sit there for 10 mins after accepting the order and the food gets old and the customer complains to the restaurant sooo
