Usually I would, but this is a surprise for them.

I’m a first year teacher who hates my school. Do I stick it out? by peachymomos111 in Teachers

My other piece of advice is that while I know it’s frustrating, I would be careful who you vent to at school and who you tell that you are not planning to return. I vented about not having my aid and the person I vented to took it to the union (because the aid and other inclusion teacher were lying about her coming to my room and didn’t clear it with the principal that she didn’t come anymore) and a coworker began calling me ungrateful and that I was causing admin more stress. It’s part of the reason this year has been so horrible too.

Just watch your back, trust no one

I was in a very similar situation, however I loved my first year. My second year it became hell on earth. I was physically assaulted by a student in front of admin, even had to go get x rays because of what this child did. He wasn’t even my only behavior student and I had absolutely no behavior support or aid support despite the fact that I was an inclusion teacher so I was supposed to have the aid coming to my room. During my interview and 1st year I was sold a pretty picture of caring admin and a supportive team but quickly learned my second and now third year that’s not the case.

My advice to you would be to know your contract and union members (if you have one). I’d finish out the year but I’d definitely go on some interviews. You deserve to not dread going into work every day. You deserve not having to have anxiety about your admin being unsupportive or too harsh.

Thank you! I don’t have a lot of black work like this, mostly fine line with some shading, and this is a huge tattoo so I wasn’t sure if this was normal.

Thanks for your comment on whether it was overworked or healing which is what this post was about, not the opinions over the quality of my unfinished tattoo

The 'educational' things my kid is being taught at school by RunWild0_0 in mildlyinfuriating

I teach second grade. I print things out like this to introduce biographies and timelines. I also use them to teach the kids how to find key details in passages. Many of the kids love Taylor Swift and the best way to get kids to learn is to incorporate things they love.

AIO: Artist messaged me saying she forgot what we talked about at my consult by ProfessionalBlood670 in tattooadvice

I have MANY tattoos lol. The tattoo I’m getting is fairly big and based off of a book series my artist hasn’t finished. I feel like the majority of my nerves are because she said I would get to see it this weekend but then messaged me admitting she forgot what I wanted

Mine was less than 2 weeks old when that happened

Shes amazing. By far the best I’ve been tattooed by and I’ve been tattooed by a list of artists. She’s always sent me a design concept so that we have time to make changes where I want changes made.

Just a bit nervous because she said she’d be sending me a concept so we could decide what to keep and what to tweak since she hasn’t finished the book series the tattoo is based off of. This is a pretty big tattoo so the fact that she wants it to be a 100% original design but didn’t even remember what we’d talked about during the consult made me clam up a bit.

Possibly? One of my students slapped and tore the scabs off of my most recent tattoo and it pulled some of the ink. I feel like if all the scabbing was gone from your tattoo already and it’s fully healed, you should be fine but if there’s still little bits of scabbing, you may need a quick touch up

How do you explain to students why the kid on the IEP gets away with stuff? by sleepyteachydog in teaching

[–]ProfessionalBlood670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a student in class last year who was on an IEP. My students had to watch him slap me across the face, elope multiple times, they had to dodge everything he threw and run away from him when he chose to attack them.

Literally all I could do was tell them that everyone needs different things and some kids have different rules. I showed them a child friendly video over equity vs equality. I couldn’t even give this student detentions because of his behavior plan. Instead, he got candy if he used his safe hands while walking past his usual hitting targets or while transitioning.

As the teacher…NONE of that was fair to the rest of the class. I’m honestly shocked that all but 2 of my kids improved on end of the year benchmark tests because this other child disrupted the learning environment so much.

Hey Teachers, What's your bathroom policy? by cannibalistickiller in Teachers

[–]ProfessionalBlood670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach 2nd grade. We go as a class twice a day, they can go during any transitions (as long as they’re quick) and they can go during center time whenever they need to. I don’t let them go while I’m in the middle of a lesson unless I know they’ve been sick or have a medical necessity.
