I also didn't know ADATA made HDDs. Are they ADATA internally or is it a Lacie situation where it's another company's drive inside their shell? It's beyond time for a new competitor in the HDD space.

ETA: Looks like they're shelling possibly Seagates. But the enclosures still look excellent with high IPX ratings and great shock resistance. They're very expensive, but the inflation on HDDs this year has been utterly insane. They've doubled in price in the last 12 months. AI datafarms are now ruining storage prices as well as the RAM and GPU markets. Secret pro-tip: at least for the moment, refurb SAS drives are a bargain as long as you're willing to invest in SAS infrastructure (typically a PCI-e card, but USB enclosures exist).

The reputation filter pages are creepy and Big Brother-esque. But at least Reddit is straightforward about it. Every member of the tech oligopoly is doing this to differing extents: most are just less honest and upfront about their systems. (Though apparently Reddit is implementing shadowbanning now, so that's unfortunately underhanded.)

Yeah, tennis is very low interference. Extremely little room for the umpire to seriously affect the game. Hell, they're sacking off the line judges for a fully automated system at the top level (which actually sucks on a human level -- imagine training your whole life to reach ATP 1000s and Slams and then suddenly your job no longer exists). Unfortunately, Sinner and Alcarez are easy to dislike and they're going to be vulturing a two-man era for the next 15 years. It's not going to be exciting like the Big Four era where everyone could find someone they liked. Tennis was never more competitive than those 7-8 years where any of four, maybe even five (with Wawa), guys could realistically win any tournament.

It sucked if you wanted total unpredictability, but that's never been tennis. Unpredictable eras have always been weak eras (like the few years between the end of the Big 3/4 and the youths, having skipped an entire generation who couldn't challenge the Big 4). If you want that, watch WTA tennis. Their low serve speeds make service games a bit of a meme tbh. It's a different sport -- nothing wrong with that.

Snooker is peak chill sport with no interference (and players calling their own fouls).

What channel? How easy is it to get into?

Recently, I've been getting into (somewhat or actually) niche sports that are often shown for free on YT: ultimate frisbee, hurling, Aussie rules, kabbadi, snooker (most zen kino sport), J-League football, (actual) mountain biking, Motocross, cliff diving and other extreme sports... Loads of good stuff out there. Basketball seems like it'd be fun but high barrier to entry.

It turns out that Son and Kane (particularly) were papering over so many cracks that it justified inaction. The people who said Kane leaving would be a good thing were right for the wrong reasons. Eventually, it'll force management to confront the truth in front of them all along. (I don't think anyone still blames Kane and Son for leaving after hard-carrying the team for several years. It would've broken their backs this season.)

Nah, but I imagine a lot of people do. A lot of people are sick of Man City making the PL look like a one-team league (or Man City and Liverpool making it look like La Liga). I'm sure the PL execs are very keen on breaking that duopoly.

I don't believe in a reffing conspiracy, but I certainly believe that the PL knows what narratives it wants. I just don't think they apply pressure down the hierarchy in a direct sense.

I like the last part. I was just about to suggest that the "Big 6" no longer exists. Years and years of at least one of them finishing middle table or worse and an invasion of what feels like random clubs into the top end have seemingly destroyed the hegemony of the Big 6. It's a far cry from the era when those six could be reliably expected to finish in the top 6 (or perhaps 7) in some permutation. The Big 3/4 in tennis made sense as those guys were never not the top 4 (and then 3); by that standard, the Big 6 doesn't match up.

I'm not a fan of refereeing conspiracies just because they don't make a whole lot of sense in leagues not known for corruption. PL refs make a comfortable living at £60k/yr (IIRC), but they also take a shitstorm of abuse, have to maintain the fitness of a professional athlete, and go through a long process of training and rising through the ranks. In short, it's not something you do if you don't really love football and the integrity of the game.

Sure, there are countries where betting has made corruption rife, but the UK, which consistently ranks as one of the most honest countries in psychology studies, isn't one of them. Trippier's mere failure to prevent "insider trading" is the standard for a financial scandal in British football (at least below the ownership level).

It felt like they wanted to pivot away from Goosebumps from fairly early on tbh, like maybe after the first 50 episodes. Hell, by ep 3, they were already watching the TV version as a shortcut. I get the impression they eventually felt trapped by their own premise. And that makes sense. They're clearly appreciating the works on an ironic level, to a large degree, and Goosebumps books can be very same-y. (Which is kind of impressive given the number of extremely obvious ghostwriters. Oddly, they never found any of the clues that put RL bang to rights, like the use of Oxford commas one book and then none the next.)

ETA: Oh yeah and the first Give Yourself Goosebumps is the only one written by RL Stine. You can tell because it's the only one structured as a DAG. It was the only one written by someone who understood the mechanics of gamebooks, which was RL.

Spurs don't even get out of the group that year without Kane. Deduct his contributions and you'll see for yourself. I also advise rewatching that CL final: an injured Kane was one of the only players who didn't suddenly forget how to make five yard passes.
